We stayed at the Staudacher Hof Wellness Hotel in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany for three nights in August. What a beautiful and quaint place! The staff are friendly, the hotel is extremely clean and tidy. Lots of thought put into every little detail as well. The rooms and bathrooms, beds and linens were all wonderful too. I would say this place is about as close to perfect as you can get. Seriously, I am picky about where I stay and this place got a 10 from me!

Top Local Tips for Garmisch Partenkirchen

Caynon Streem When visiting Garmish, make sure to take a few hours to stop by the mountain streem that is just south of town. It is about an hour walk into the caynon (longer if you want to explore) and well worth the time. This is one of the hidden jewels of Germany.

Easy way to & from Munich Airport German Rail is a quick and efficient way to get to and from Munich Airport. #1) Buy your tickets at the German Rail Ticket Window at the Airport (English Spoken), they cover your trip on the S bahn & your train trip to Garmisch. If you take the S8 train you can get off at the Main Train Station (HauptBahnhof) or at PASING. We find it more convenient to switch at PASING as the train to Garmisch stops there and all you have to do is walk from one platform to the next one over. (HauptBahnhof is large and Garmisch Train leaves from one end of the station/Starnberger Bahnhof) Same thing on way back. On the way to the airport, if your train departs Garmisch after 9AM you can get a Bayern Ticket and I believe it covers up to 5 people & is a good deal. It may also be available at Munich Airport.
