No one would stay here on purpose

We got stuck here for the night when our Lufthansa flight was cancelled. I suspect the hotel gets its major business this way. Dear God, no one would stay here on purpose.

Decor: Stark. Low budget Ikea. No door on the closet (intentional -- not missing). A tiny bit of style here and there, which is why it gets a 2 and not a 1.

Restaurant: You have to eat here; there's nowhere else to go. It's buffet style, so nothing's fresh (the salad greens were fresh, surprisingly). Really unattractive to the eye, but not quite as bad as it looks. Another reason it gets a 2 instead of a 1. Think American home cooking on an off night. You won't starve, but you wouldn't want to actually have to pay for this.

Clean: yes. Room reasonably sized. Bathroom bright, if spartan.

Sleeping: comfortable cotton linen, good feather pillow. Bed so-so. If you want two pillows, you have to ask for an extra. My boyfriend asked for one and they brought it quickly.

Summary: If you're stuck here, it's not the end of the world. But it looks like it.

Top Local Tips for Frankfurt

Main River Cruise Definitely go on a Main River Cruise when the weather is nice in Frankfurt. Very relaxing and you can take some great pics of Frankfurt's skyline while crusing on the Main River.

Airport Arrival and Departure If you arrive at Terminal 1 the InterCity Airport Hotel Shuttle (and other transportation) is at the lower level between doors C7 and C8. If you arrive at Terminal 2 the Shuttle ( and other transportation) is just outside the building for Arrival Gates D-E. Downtown Frankfurt is a short train ride to the main train station or Hauptbanhof.

American food best burgers in town: Chicago meat packers near the big blue Euro sign (I think it is next to the theater house), but very near the main train station also.
