Top Local Tips for Frankfurt

Frankfurt Info Tourist Center in the Hauptbahnhof is a big help for maps and tours. Lockers to stash bags are getting old so hope they replace them soon. They are in short supply so don't count on having one available.

Flights If you are travelling with Lufthansa, check and double-check that you have requested seats with your travelling companion(s). My partner and I checked-in more than 2 hours before our flight from Brisbane to Singapore and were given seats 4 rows apart, even though we had booked and paid for our seats in the one transaction through a travel agent. Neither of us had an aisle or window seat. Lufthansa staff did not care. They just said that the flight was fully booked and they couldn't alter it. They even said that there was a family with a baby that was not seated together. We found their attitude and customer service appalling.

Beautiful river walk About two blocks from our hotel at Esslingerstrasse 8, near the train station, there is a staircase down to the Main river. Along the north bank there is a wide river walk which we found delightful. We strolled, but there were bikers and joggers as well as people sitting on the benches contemplating the river. By walking east about twenty minutes one arrives at Old Town where there is a nice platz for people watching and a couple of ancient churches for exploring.
