Internet booking - dont do it!
I booked at the Mercure Hotel for 2 nights via the internet and have regretted it ever since. The regular rooms, according to the web site, seemed not to be available. In order to stay there, I had to book the much more expensive room overlooking the harbour. When I got there I was put in a frumpy room overlooking a sad, sad inner court yard with garbage containers filling my eyes. I assumed that my earlier request was filled and I got the cheaper room. When I checked out I had to pay for the expensive room. I protested to no avail. The receptionist told me the hotel is not responsible for the bookings on the internet and that all rooms are the same price and no I could not speak to the manager as he wasn't in yet. How is that for super service? I paid, went on with my journey and complained to Hotel Mercure on my return home.
