Top Local Tips for Berlin
Vouchers Buy a 3 day tourist pass which gives free public transport and reductions to museums. Pass does not become active until you use public transport for the first time. So you can buy on day 1, use it to enter museums on days 1 and 2, use public transport on day 3 and continue to use it until day 5. This gives you 5 days reduced admission to museums!
Premiership Football the Europa Center (www.europa-center-berlin.de) near the Zoo Station has a huge Irish bar that shows all Premiership football, live, for no cover charge. the hotel we stayed in (Scandotel Castor Berkin) had a pay-per-view TV sports channel that carried live & delayed 90 minute Premiership games too, ones not shown on either Sky or Setanta!
daily transport ticket 15 euro's will enable up to 5 people to travel daily on all forms of public transport. excellent underground system

Quietly situated in the heart of West Berlin's up market Schoneberg area, it is still well located for U-Bahn and Bus connections and merely a few minutes away from the Ku'damm main shopping street, the KaDeWe department store and dozens of great pavement cafes, bars and superb restaurants near Nollendorfplatz.
It's also a great base for trips out to see the historic sights and museums in Berlin.
The staff couldn't be more helpful, there is a 24-hour reception desk where they sell those oh-so-important late night munchies, plus maps, souvenirs and much more.
The rooms are not huge but are clean, comfortable and have good facilities, and breakfast is a delightful buffet of fresh fruit, meats, cheeses, many types of rolls and breads, unlimited tea and coffee and some nice little extras that fill you for the whole day. There's also internet access and a lift in the hotel.
And the icing on the cake comes in the form of a cozy little bar where you are welcomed with a free drink - a great place to mingle with your fellow guests before starting a night out in this sparkling city.
I was well impressed and will certainly be back!
