Historical Traveller Reviews of Hilton Berlin Hotel
Great hotel
from myke29ukWhile the rooms are quite small, they are very clean and decorated/furnished to an excellent standard.
The pool and spa are very well presented and it was nice to have somewhere to relax after a heavy day of sightseeing.
The location is perfect - right in the centre, and there is a metro station directly in front of the hotel so there was no problem getting about.
The staff and service was also of a high standard.

from andrewWow!! Best ever
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe had booked a Hilton Queen Executive Room, these are the only Executive rooms which have a double bed ( ie not two singles pushed together ).
On arrival we saw a real open planned beautiful reception area. Having passed the Concierge we proceeded to Check In. We were early so not sure we could get to our room. We were directed to the 6th Floor and the Executive Lounge to check in. On entering this Exclisive room we were greeted with a smile from the lovely Christina. Christina did the check in and explained how the Executive Floor works. Full access up to 10.30pm at night, to drink coffee, tea, alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages, it was help yourself!! Lovely Pastries and biscuits throughout the day. This is also where you take breakfast. The general restaurant/breakfast room is on the 1st floor, if you are in a Standard room.
We were told our room was ready, some 3 hours before normal checkin.
The room was superb, overlooking the Gendermarkt and the beautiful square and dome.
There was a lovely bed, lots of storage space, TV, Aircon and minibar although we didnt need it as we had the Executive lounge included in the price. We also had water and received some wine and 3 tier, of cakes and sweets, as it was our anniversary. WORTH TELLING THE HOTEL WHEN YOU BOOK!
The bathroom was white marble, plenty of gels and creams, lovely bath and shower with lots and lots of hot water. Complimentary bathrobe and slippers.
We were really pleased with what we were offered.
The hotel does have 9 restaurants all varying from Italian to German, the bar is lovely but quite expensive so check prices before you order, but thats to be expected.
The Health Club was great, lovely and clean, you are greeted when you arrive, given towels and offered a bed which surrounds the pool. When we went we were the only ones there, so made the most of it. So relaxing. Plenty of treatments available and also a sauna but this does come at an extra reduced cost of around 11 euros ( for the sauna ). There is a gym but we didnt get the chance to use it.
The U-Bahn is directly outside which links you to all parts of the city but as in previous reviews many of the sights in Berlin are accessable by foot. There are good restaurants all over the city but always good to check the guides so you dont spend too long searching.
This hotel is in the business district so is much quieter than right in the centre, so you may find that the restaurants close by are more expensive. The staff in the Executive Lounge are always there to help and guide you round the city.
We had a brilliant 2 days and will certainly be using Hilton again....You will love it!

Perfect, totally Perfect!
from gr8nmAfter checking in, they made us wait until about 3pm before the room was ready. I found the room was mostly clean and they had upgraded us to a jr suite which had a sofa, 2 lounge chairs and big desk (with high speed internet). There was lots of closets. The bathroom was a little cramped. The king (two twins pushed together) was comfortable. There were duvet covers, which were nicer than i'd expect at a Hilton (kind of like a Westin) Service was fine; they did turn down service each night. There was a sticked minibar.
The room was quiet; accross from the U-Bahn station. But we didnt need it. You can walk to the major sites in Berlin: Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag, Alexanderplatz, Checkpoint Charlie and the Jewish Museum. There are hundreds of places within walking distance to eat and shop at, including a Starbucks, Subway and many nice restaurants. The lobby was very nice and open. Never ate at the hotel since the restaurants were a little pricey, they include an Italian place, Trader Vics, a German place called The Mark Brandenburg plus a hotel/lobby restaurant that services the bar and is where to get breakfast.
Very nice place. Very comforatble. The front desk and concierge were great! I'd absolutely go back and stay at this hotel again.
The best touch was they had a small bag of Haribo gummy bears (my favorite) and a large Evian in the room upon arrival.

from QuiltingBeeNice hotel, fantastic location of the ex-EAST Berlin
from A TripAdvisor MemberI found the health club inadequate, as well as the massage treatment (she was reaaally soft!) and the room was O.K.
The staff at the reception and at the breakfast buffet is excellent, in contrast with the maids who are rather abrupt and inpolite. Who cares? The hotel is good but not as excellent as described... All in all, because we booked it at a terrific price of 150 euro/ night for a double room, it was good.
Yet another great Hilton
from terrencebenadeThe building and facilities are truly lavish and grand, and for a weekend away left us feeling rather spoilt.
Our room was of an average size with all the usual facilities and a black and white marble bathroom.
Few niggles with the room but they were seen to immediately, and to be honest our stay was enjoyed so much I would prefer not to have mentioned it, but what is the point of this review with out the facts.
We managed 2 nights stay overlooking the Gendarmenmarkt with one of us getting an hour long massage. In addition we had a snack or two plus a full dinner at Trader Vic's and plenty of drinks for less than 500 euros all in...
Not sure if that is a bargain but is definitely felt like it.
Top Local Tips for Berlin
Get unlimited travel ticket Make sure when purchasing public transport tickets that you get one for Zone a+B for unlimited daily use. You can use it on the S Bahn, Underground and Buses all for unlimited travel fot he a day for 5.80 Euro. BEst value in Town
Interesting city Berlin has a story to share with its visitors. A number of museums ranging from galleries to that showing the history of Germany and its people. Public transport in and around the city is excellent, but taxis are also very cheap (avrg of 10euros peak city traffic time). Large squares, and modern buildings merge with the older parts of the city. Shopping is not a problem a trip to the Famous Kurfurstendamm leaves you with full hands and an empty wallet! You may also stop for a coffee break whilst enjoying a typical german sweet in one of the various cafes around the city.
Reichstag building You must visit the Reichstag building but be prepared to queue for around 2 hours or to arrive at opening time (08.00). The views from the dome are brilliant - both externally across the city and internally around the dome. The roof top cafe is very good and a lovely way to spend a relaxing hour recovering from the queuing! Combine the visit with a walk around the surrounding area of government buildings, which present an amazing array of modern architecture that is worthy of much quiet contemplation. We loved as well the emphasis throughout on openness and transparency (literally, with all the glass fronted offices and meeting rooms), and the effort spent in explaining how government works (in various booklets in a range of languages). Entry to the Reichstag is free, as are the booklets.
