I found the Econtel Berlin by looking through a city guide that I'd bought to try and help get me around the city. On paper it looked like a good choice; reasonably priced, almost central but in a quieter area etc etc. In that respect, I can't complain. However, being new to the city, and the country, the Econtel's staff did not offer the best first impression. The receptionist was impolite and made me and my friends feel as if we were imposing and unwelcome, and on more than one occasion that we went to reception and waited patiently to be "served", older couples were persisitently allowed to queue jump ahead of us, and when we were finally addressed, again, we felt to be encroaching on the staff's time. The room itself was nice, the breakfast was decent and the waiting on staff were much friendlier than the reception staff. Security was a tad questionable however, with us being disturbed in the middle of the night by strangers banging incessantly on our door. Also the......
