Top Local Tips for Vincennes

Montmartre Restaurant The Auberge Du Clou at 30 Avenue Trudaine - welcoming, unpretentious but with fine food. The restaurant includes 3 distinct areas (including non-smoking area), a little shelter basically outside (covered and with patio heaters) an attractive and cosy downstairs dining area inside and an upstairs dining area. The Fois Gras de Canard was to die and generously proportioned and 3 courses for 1 plus 2 for the other, coffee, sherry to accompany the fois gras and a decent bottle of Chablis was about 142 Euros.

Make sure you get a Paris Visite ticket The Metro is undoubtably the best way around Paris and is one hell of a lot cheaper when you get the Paris Visite (I think that's the name of it) ticket. We arrived at Charles de Gaulle airport and got this ticket from the ajoining train station. If I remember correctly, there are 3 different zone options, we went for the second one which gives you the city centre and some of the outskirts (where our hotel was). Therefore we had to get an additional ticket to go from the airport into Paris as the airport's in a different zone. The ticket is valid for something like either 1, 5 or 7 days though it could well be different. I can't even remember the price but I know it was so much cheaper than single tickets. It entitles you to Metro, RER and Bus rides in your zones. Beware that as this is just a regular paper ticket that is used as a regular one, it just happens to be cheaper and last longer (and is more shiney!) if you lose this, it's gone and there's no way of claiming your money back.
