Fantastic place

My wife and I stayed here two nights on our honeymoon and must say everything about this hotel was fantastic. We were upgraded to a junior suite overlooking the countryside. The pool area with sauna and sundeck was great. We had champagne with strawberries on arrival and the breakfast was superb. We had a wonderful time!

The rain was drizzling when we pulled up to the Trianon Palace Hotel and Spa, and the day was gray. As soon as we stepped into the lobby, our day began to sparkle! Helene greeted us at the reception desk, and assured us that although it was only 10am, our room was ready in the Palace section of the hotel. What a gorgeous room! High ceilings, lovely furnishings, HUGE room with such a comfortable bed. The bathroom was enormous with two sinks, a separate enclosure for the toilet and a shower/bath with three shower heads.... such luxury. Lovely large windows overlooking the colorful gardens.....
The gardens surrounding the hotel are beautiful. The hotel is situated right next to the Park, where we rode rented bicycles and took in the scenery.
Price? We were a bit shocked at the cost of everything in Europe, but the cost of food at this hotel is a bit outrageous. However, that did not dampen our spirits. We walked to the delightful open market on Sunday morning, bought a baguette and a rotisserrie chicken (total cost $11.00US). We took our little picnic to the park and had our lunch under a tree, as we watched the sheep grazing in the fields. It was all quite idyllic.
The Spa? The indoor heated pool is by far the loveliest hotel pool we have encountered.
The staff is meticulous about having you shower and rinse your feet before entering the pool area. There is a general feeling of luxury and cleanliness in this hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed the steam room and sauna, but did not take any other spa services.
The Concierge could not have been more helpful. They steered us in the right direction, helped with train reservations, advised us on bicycle rentals, and advised us when to visit the Chateau de Versailles...... all in all they were extremely helpful and courteous.
Versailles is a wonderful place to spend a couple of days, and for anyone who wants to treat yourself to a beautiful, luxurious hotel with a fantastic staff, I heartily recommend the Trianon Palace Hotel and Spa.
So, you ask, how expensive could the food be? Would you think $45.00 USD per person for breakfast, and entrees of $40.00-100.00 USD on the dinner menu are steep? We thought so, but it did not keep us from thoroughly enjoying our stay. We ate outside the hotel.

I spent the Easter weekend here with my fiancee. A truly remarkable place - we had a fantastic room on the 3rd floor - and were able to see the Palace from our window. The room was spacious - light and airy - the bathroom divine.
Above all - the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and went out of their way to ensure our requests were met.
It's proximity to the Palace waqs excellent -( yep practically next door!!) and our access to the Palace grounds and park was unbelieveable
I would truly recommend this hotel as 'the' hotel to stay when in Versailles.

Great location - Not four star service

Hotel is in an amazing location. The rooms are great! However we arrived on a rainy day via taxi - no bell man to help with our bags from the car into the hotel. The two bellmen just stood there and watched us. I guess they didn't want to get wet! Only after we wrangled our luggage inside did they offer any assistance. Also the hotel was of no assistance in making an emergency call back to the states. I would not stay here again based on the quality of service for the money we spent!!!
Graet position for Versailles

Stayed here for 2 nights on the way back from Spain. Paid 125 euro in advance so not surprised to be in the Pavillion on the Preferred Guest Floor. Really warmly greeted, everyone was really friendly bar one, see below. In any event the loacation worked well with direct access from the Underground Car Park. Room was large with a good double sink bathroom and a lovely view of the main hotel!
Only negative was a cleaner who was very rude even though my wife spoke to him in good French, she teaches it!

This is the place to stay if you are traveling to Versailles - a very nice retreat. And if you are looking for the best hot chocolate on earth, look no further. Fresh milk from a local farm, smooth as silk and the taste of heaven - we were delighted!
This was a great, low key place to kick-off our trip. However, if you are looking to explore Paris - this is not the hotel or the location. As previously mentioned, the Palace is definitely the place to stay - with a grander exterior. We stayed in the Pavillion and can report that the rooms were clean, the room was good sized and the bed was very comfortable - but if you aren't cashing in points - stay in the Palace.
The grounds are absolutely beautiful and you do feel as if you are a member of the royal family on holiday. The staff was very, very nice and spoke excellent English. The hotel is only a short walk away from where Henry and Marie lived, and the town boasted a quieter, but charming night life - with good restaurants.
Finally, if you are trying to get from the airport to the hotel, you will want to take the train or consider renting a car. Cabs ask about 180 E for a one-way trip.

Stayed in the Pavillion for 4 nights in July 06, using points + cash. Room was not spectacular but quiet and very comfortable with a nice view of the gardens. The swimming pool is specatular and the tunnel connecting the pavillion to the main hotel is charming. The front desk staff were pleasant and helpful. We played tennis every day (no charge). The location is superb and we enjoyed the stroll to the Grand Trianon palace on our arrival day. We did not eat at the hotel - there are many restaurants within walking distance. We were very happy with our stay.

as per the other reviews, the main hotel is great but the modern building is not! We stayed in the new building, which is linked to the original but only under-ground. On arrival we were not offered assistance with our bags and service in general was aloof (we did not experience this problem elsewhere in Paris). Rooms are large but lacking granduer - which is what you would expect given the prices. The modern building is very detached from the main hotel, with no reception or staff located in it - it is mainly used for conferences and feels like a standard 3* conference hotel, in the grounds of a more impressive hotel, which is effectively what it is!

First let me say that the staff at the hotel were brilliant, their English was perfect and they were wonderfully polite and helpful. The grounds are tree lined and when we were there the blossom was out.
The problem is that I booked a 3 for 2 night offer from the web, so we were put in the Pavillion. There isn't much good to say about the Pavillion except you get a truely superb view of the main building, you can feel like a second class guest.
The swimming pool is good and I love the tunnel through the grounds. The jacuzzi is not included which I thought was a shame.
The breakfast is SERIOUSLY overpriced and just not worth the money.
Having made those points though. The setting of this hotel IS stunning! you feel like you are going back in time and can pretend you are a travelling diplomat to the Versaille court.
On another note, Versaille is a reasonable but not brilliant base for exploring Paris. I wanted to be away from the town cente but close enough to get in easily. The train goes direct to the Eiffel tower but allow 1 hour of travelling time.

As others have noted, there are two buildings and they are almost separate hotels. Do not pay full price unless they'll guarantee that you'll be in the Palace and not the Pavilion. The Palace is truly beautiful although most of the rooms are small by American standards. One of the nice things about our larger room in the (newer but plainer) Pavillion was the great view of the Palace.
The service was inconsistent. The front desk staff and bellmen were helpful but I feel I was not treated properly as a Starwood platinum guest when paying a reduced "cash and points" rate. I was told there were no available rooms in the Palace (which I don't believe because it was only 1 pm when we checked in, and they said there would not be any available tomorrow either). They did not even put us on the Starwood floor of the Pavillion until I realized we weren't on it and went back to the front desk to request it. Then we had to go back to the desk 3 times to get the room keys to work. Our sink did not drain right and the maid service was average, without replacement of the toiletries that we used. I did not complain because I just did not get the feeling that they cared.
The spa is beautiful, with a really nice indoor pool, and the basic spa facilities are included in the room rate. The gym was disappointing because it did not have a recumbent excercise bike, which ALL of the other hotels on this London/Paris trip had (Sofitels and Novotels and Sheraton).
I do recommend the nearby creperie for lunch or dinner (it's not open for breakfast). It's reasonably priced and the food and service were excellent. Go out the hotel gate, turn left and go down to the main road. Turn left at the corner and it's a few doors down on the left.

Top Local Tips for Versailles
nice bistro I cannot remeber the exact name of the bistro, but i think it has something like "bistro de l'opera"...it is next to an american sandwich shop. if you are the the castle's chapel, walk north (right) down the street, past the opera, towards the wter ressevoir. it has a raised covered terrace, and is green with white table clothes and lace haning by the windows....great menu and great price, good location too
Trianon Palace Westin Cash and Points Option If you're heading to Versailles, use Starwood Preferred Guest Cash and Points Award option for this hotel. With the dollar so devalued right now, this is a great deal for this hotel, if available, especially for a family.
Versailles Best hotel within walking distance is the Trianon Palace. You can buy a pass at the hotel and cut the lines
