Top Local Tips for Val d'Isere
It's not as good as Tignes Tignes is better. Nicer resort;same ski area. Nightlife is good in Val but everything is overpriced.
Quicksilver The Quicksilver shop in town has a great dining area in the back, very good burgers
Not for the faint hearted, or those without substantial funds! An over rated and hugely overpriced resort. Poorly linked lifts, poorly graded ski runs and extensive use of slow, outdated lift systems at over inflated lift prices! Litte respite from strong icy winds higher up the mountains. Experianced a very lazy French attituse to service in general, and food on the mountain was particularly extortianate. Will never visit this place again. Leaving the slopes in the afternoon and avoiding the less than competant skiers/boarders was hard work through icy narrow runs. The transfer time to Grenoble airport took 7 Hours on Saturday, with people missing their flights! Be warned!

I will definitely return to Val d'Isere but would NEVER stay at Vieux Village again and would strongly encourage others to think again before staying there. I have never written a review before, but the terrible holiday I have just had has driven me to writing this as a warning to others.
