Top Local Tips for Strasbourg

Au Crocodile If you like good food and good restaurants,go to Au Crocodile.Very good food.

Untrustworthy taxis Our experience was hopefully for others an unfortunate one-off. We booked a taxi (the night before )for pickup half an hour in advance of the train ETD, the station being only 5-10 minutes from the hotel. However the taxi simply didn`t bother to turn up. Fortunately the hotel took the initiative to get us to the station in time (just) by hotel van- vastly appreciated by us as failure to catch our scheduled train would have meant missing our Paris/London connection too. Bonus marks to the Regent Petite France for saving our day, BUT; black marks to the Strasbourg taxi who let us down without any warning of delay or any communication at all.

Restaurants near the hotel If you leave the hotel and go to your LEFT, around down the side street there are a few cafes. The first you will come across on your right will be the Breckenhoff. The food there was wonderful. I got the chicken cooked in Riesling wine with spetzel. It was soooo good that I contacted them after I got home to get the recipe...which they sent me! There is a great place for steak just down a bit further on the left called Pont St. Martien. Wonderful view with your meal. Don't forget to have some Kugelhoff and gingerbread while you are in Alsace.
