Sample the gorgeous food French cooking is very regionalised and the food in Strasbourg is no exception. It is more rustic and Germanic probably than you would expect. There is very little cream and butter. Try a hearty dish called baekoff a stew of three meats and potatoes. Tarte flambee is a delicious midday snack or starter. The local sausages and bacon dishes are very good along with mounds of choucroute or sauerkraut - tasty pickled cabbage in other words. For dessert don't forget the ice cream, with chopped up fruit in season and topped off with the same fruit liqueur - the mirabelles (small green plums or greengages) are fab! Give the canned cream a miss though, its awful and amazingly so for a huge dairy country!
