I have never spent 2,800 euro ($3,500) for 2 junior suites and a suite per night and got so little....it is a place we feel ripped off every time we get/eat/try anything.
Nor have I ever been in a 5 star hotel which has staff who seem to be here for the convenience of everyone but the guests - who appear to be a total annoyance.
Some examples:
Rip offs - taxi to Ste Maxime 4km away costs 35-40 euros ($45-$50); the restaurant in Ste Maxime HIGHLY recommended by the hotel (L'Amiral) was charging 54 euros ($70) for a locally caught lobster, and served frozen calamari for a small fortune. The restaurant was full of tourists whose concierges, like ours, get a nice bung for sending guests. At a 5 star hotel I expect BETTER!!
At the pool the waiters will only serve pretty tanning babes, and my husband has had to ask 4 times around the pool for some service and towels each time he visits. We now just go and get our own.
Room service is OK. The Thai menu is good - but the service is so poor.
We are on day 5 of a one week stay, and as yet not one (and I exaggerate not) order has come to the room without an error. No glasses, no milk for the tea (always specifically requested), no banana for the baby, a whole dish missing etc etc.
Examples of the staff's poor service:
Yesterday, height of the season, a maintenance guy spent 3 hours outside the front of the hotel drilling into concrete. It took so long to make 4 holes as he clearly had the wrong drill bit. My husband eventually went to the front desk and asked that the noise stop - it being August and high season.
Florence (manager of reservations) could not have cared less. The work stopped for an hour, but there was no apology. Just a sneer when they asked why we wanted to be in our room. Perhaps a small baby needed a sleep??? But why should we have to justify it!! The RUBBISH (small, dirty, mismatched furniture) suite costs us $1,500 a night! If I want to be in it 24 hours a day surely I have every right? Incredible.
Every booking at the spa my stepdaughter has made has been subject to confirmation only 1 hour before the treatment (booked 48 hours in advance) which has limited our ability to plan around it. She had to wait 50 minutes for a manicure with no apology, as the girl missed her boat.
Be warned: The Franch do not ever apologise.
To help you understand us, we have stayed at 5 star resorts and hotels across the globe. The Delano and Loewe in Miami, One Aldwych, The Savoy, The Lanesborough, The Metropolitan, Browns, The 4 Seasons in London, Le Crillon in Paris, The Westin Grand in Berlin, The Soho Grand and The Mercer in NYC, Little Palm Island in The Keys, The Bellagio in Vegas , The Mandarin Oriental in San Fran , The Martinez and Barriere in Cannes and the Palais de la Mediterranee in Nice etc etc.
NEVER have I felt so ignored or such a burden to staff.
And we have been as polite as we know how to be. And I even speak Franch!
We urge you to stay away from this terrible hotel in an admittedly gorgeous setting. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
