getting around from this hotel since the vista palace is so isolated on the very top of a mountain, you will need transportation. i cannot remember if there is a shuttle down into town or not because we hired a private driver, which is what i highly recommend. we hired our driver for about 4 or 5 hours each day we were at the hotel. he picked us up in the morning and i gave him a list of places we wanted to visit that day. as an added bonus, we became quite friendly with our driver and he brought us to some of his favorite places, which most tourists never get to see, and also to some very special little country restaurants hidden away from tourists spots. Our driver also knew loads of history about the area. plus, we never had to worry about parking or weather or hailing a taxi. it is so worth the price to opt for this method of sightseeing when you have a lot of things you want to see that are spaced quite far apart and when other forms of transportation are not 100% problem free.
