Tacky building but OK staff

Campanile have a problem in that they are locked in the Middle Ages. The places are run down, accommodation is very ordinary and about twice the tariff they deserve. Perhaps we are spoilt in Australia but the star ratings applied to our motels can be relied upon. This like many Campanile would not rate half a star here. Staff were great and manager very personable and obliging but the Campanile buildings generally are due for demolition. Strange, but they always seem to be filled, come evening. Barely comfortable and shabby bathrooms, no aircon and third world drink making facilities. If it were not for the on-site restaurant I doubt they would stay in business. The little old hotel, (not listed) at the other end of town was about the same comfort level and half the tariff and you could get a beer at a bar, Aussie style.
