Beautiful Paris Hotel

from Houstontravel5
This was my first time in Paris, and I loved it! The hotel was beautiful. We stayed on the 6th floor and had two balconies on our room where we could look down the quiet street that this hotel is on to the boulevard. The room was great - clean, decorated beautifully. The service was good, and their patience in assisting us in getting around the city was appreciated. It was exactly the kind of place one would imagine when they think of Paris. Thank you Phillippe!

We had our family in the two bedroom suite. The price was excellent for Paris and we loved the hotel. The room was large and we all loved the fabric walls and the black marble bathroom. The staff was wonderful and willing to help with anything.

Elegant, Beautiful Hotel

from ABron33
This is a truly elegant and beautiful hotel. The rooms are furnished beautifully with toile wallpaper and bedding and the bathroom is gorgeous. Really luxurious. Three of us (women) shared a junior suite. It had twin beds and the hotel added a roll away bed. There was plenty of room. The only drawback here is the price - the hotel commands top dollar, but if you can afford it, do it. You won't be sorry!

A beautiful small French hotel

This is a charming and elegant hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. I was in Paris to show a close friend the city that I love, and I didn't want to stay in a large, anonymous, Americanized hotel. I wanted it to be truly French. The Victoria Palace is centrally located on the Left Bank, a very short distance from Rodin's house, St. Germain and the Lusembourg Gardens. Bus 95 goes straight to the Opera and on to Montmartre. There are two metro lines nearby, one of them the Porte d'Orleans - Porte de Clignancourt which means that you can be almost anywhere in 15 minutes. If you get lost, just look for the Montparnasse Tower and you will find your way back to Montparnasse. There are wonderful restaurants nearby... many of the famous, old 19th century brasseries and new ones as well. We loved a little restaurant called C'est Mon Plaisir. Questions? Write me!

Elegant Boutique Hotel

The Victoria Palace is in a quiet, secluded place-easy to get to public transportation. The rooms are large, and the appointments elegant. We especially liked the sitting room and bar. We would definately consider staying there again.

Treated like royalty

We were very impressed with the excellent service and personal touches at the Victoria Palace Hotel in Paris. Everyone - doorman, bellhop, concierge, and maid service were wonderful, and made us feel as though they'd laid out the red carpet for us. Our room was immaculate and elegant, with a double terrace. Chocolates, and welcome letter, thick robes and slippers awaited us, along with every possible toiletry, right down to bath salts and an emory board. The maid left us a daily weather report (in Celsius and Farenheit, thank you), chocolates, and even arranged our daughter's stuffed dog on her pillow. The concierge made dinner reservations for us, and pointed out, respectfully, that our 10 year old may not appreciate the $150 Euro per person meal at our first choice of restaurant, and made reservations for us at another more moderately priced, but excellent, place. Not only did he request a non-smoking table for us (which we had neglected to mention), but two glasses of champagne and juice for our daughter were waiting for us, compliments of the hotel. The hotel was within a 10 Euro cab ride, or 20 minute walk, from most of the attractions we visited, including the Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Montmartre, and Notre Dame. Included in our rate was a buffet breakfast, which included eggs, bacon and sausage along with the usual selection of breads and cereals.
I've always heard that the French are rude to Americans, but that was certainly not our experience. Everyone, including waiters and cabdrivers, went out of their way to be cordial and helpful.

Overall great recommendation

We enjoyed our visit in April 2004 to this hotel. We did not pay the top rate for the largest rooms facing the street, which is a short quiet street in between two busy streets at the edge of the 6th arrondissement, rue de Rennes and rue de Vaugirard, near Blvd de Montparnasse. We did get the next step down, the "deluxe" rooms facing the courtyard, which were very nicely appointed with fabric upholstered walls in toile, large marble bathrooms - overall top notch and very quiet. The hotel ran a special into April which included their buffet breakfast, which was superb, great service as well. The common facilities include nicely appointed and decorated salon, bar, breakfast room, and marble entry. The bar had no background music, which would have been nice. The location is not in the heart of the St. Germain action, but within walking distance. 2 1/2 blocks to le Bon Marche, about 4 - 5 blocks to Blvd. St. Germain. However, there were many shops, cafes, and restaurants nearby, incuding a fnac across the street. Overall great choice and we will go back.

A good choice overall

from sanibelbeach
I have no complaints about this place on a secluded street off of the main throughfare near the Montparnasse Tower. The hotel was very convenient to the metro and shopping. We walked to some good local restaurants. The lobby was elegant with a fire burning for new years eve. The bathroom size was decent for Paris but overall the "deluxe" room was not that large (but then again how many are in Paris). The staff spoke english well and tried pretty hard to accomodate us.
Overall .....a good value if you want a nice hotel without the pricetag.

d definately go back

I picked this hotel after seeing it on trip advisor and i was not disappointed. The room was lovely, breakfast delicious and the staff very helpful. I loved the little touches like getting the following days weather forecast on your pillow at night. We asked them to reserve us a table at a popular restaurant, the restaurant didn't accept reservations, but the hotel gave us business card with a name of someone to ask for there. Upon arrival, we presented the card and were taken straight through to be seated, skipping a wait of about 90 minutes - fantastic!! I would recommend this hotel to anyone and would definately stay here again.

This was a super hotel with very elegant rooms. The staff is friendly and very helpful! Nice cozy bar with a comfortable and relaxed feeling.
Very quiet and the breakfast was out of this world. I would give this a strong 4-star. You won't be sorry!

Top Local Tips for Paris

Great Little Restaurant Dine at Chez Marcel. Superb cosy very french restaurant with good food and very freindly staff. The hotel will book it for you.

Use Metro It's easy. Don't be afraid to use it. It's cheaper than taxi, quick and easy to use. Just keep an eye on the maps in side the train so you know you're going in the right direction.

GYPSIES Be careful they are young women dressed poorly stationed around the major sights asking if you speak english. They hold a card written in broken english telling you their parent died and they are stranded in Paris with no money. My friend and I believed them last year and gave them money. Saw them again this year.
