A memorable stay with wonderful hosts at Hotel Valadon
from Priscilla2006The rooms are a perfect roomy size with a good sized ensuite bathroom. The Decor is very stylish and comfortable - all brand new.
Hotel Valadon is perfectly positioned right in the the heart of Paris. When you step outside the front door, after a filling traditional french breakfast personally given by Victor, Maria and our new found friend Othello, you find yourself surrounded by the many Parisian mysteries that await you - we were just around the corner from everywhere.
When we return to Paris we will definitely return to the Valadon.
Thank you so very much for a memorable and pleasant stay.

from A TripAdvisor MemberMeets All Criteria For Great Stay
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe Valadon easily met the above demands. Value, especially in Paris, is not that easy to come by these days. I believe that I received a great value in Paris for the battered U.S. dollar at The Valadon.
The room size for two people was generous. There are ample eating and drinking opportunities minutes from the hotel. There are also plenty of "must-see" attractions close by... The Eiffel Tower, Invalides, The Musee D'Orsay, and others. I will be returning to Paris again next year. I know where I'll be staying!
Loved Hotel Valadon
from IrelandCorkoniansFrom the time of inquiry until the end of our stay things were very simple, as they speak fluent english, german, and of course french!
From the moment of arrival we felt we had come to stay in someones home, with the freedom to come and go as we wished.
The rooms were wonderful, by Paris standards, as they are usually very small, but we found the rooms quite spacious, bright and spotlessly clean. Also very good value for its location. €115 for a double room per night.
We were close to the Eiffel Tower and Invalides, also close to metro, but we prefered to walk or taxi.
There is a wonderful street parrallel to Rue Valadon called Rue Cler. Here you will find wonderful cafes, speciallity cheese, chocolate, olive oil shops etc, and it is 'buzzing' on a saturday morning when there is a market, where the atmosphere and aromas have to be experienced! On a sunday morning you feel you are getting a glimpse of true parisian life as many local residents meet for petit-dejuner or just cafe, to chat and catch up with neighbours.
There are beautiful shops all around this area and the Rue St Dominique close by, housing quite a few.
The atmosphere in this paticular area of Paris was wonderful, leaving us with the longing to come back and stay a month, not a weekend.
Thank you to Maria and Victor for their genuine welcome and hospitallity, and of course not forgetting the resident dog (Othello- I think!!)who is equally as welcoming!!
Very very good but watch the stairs in one of the family rooms
from AlphaGirlNYCInternet access is currently 2 euros per 30 minutes, and as a family-run small hotel, the reception desk is open only to 2pm -- not an issue though it may require some extra pre-planning if you have any questions for reception.
Just one caution -- my parents and I stayed in a family room meant for three on the ground floor just past the breakfast room. The room itself was very good, but the bathroom was down a steep stairway without any railing. Fine for most hale and hearty people but potentially dangerous for some getting on in years. Ask, if it's a concern for you.
Great Stay
from A TripAdvisor MemberA Truly Charming 2-Star Hotel
from DHonnollFor the budget-conscious traveler, this hotel’s accommodations (breakfast room, small refrigerator and dishes) nicely compliment the culinary delights of Rue Cler (a wonderful experience in itself). A variety of beverages are available from the hotel lobby minibar at a fair price. Its elevator, albeit small, is a luxury for a 2 star and a welcomed alternative to climbing stairs, particularly with luggage. Its internet access is an inexpensive way to communicate with friends and family back home. As computers do, it was down a couple of days but Monsieur Orsenne worked diligently to get it up and running again. I commented to Monsieur Orsenne that computers were wonderful when they worked but a pain when they didn’t. I had to laugh at his fervent response of “Oui!”
We chose to visit Paris in the fall to avoid the heat. Mid-September offered wonderful weather. If air-conditioning is a must, Monsieur Orsenne mentioned to us his plan to add air-conditioning in the near future. Check out their website on their progress before rejecting this hotel because of this issue. The Orsennes are gracious hosts. If you have any questions or specific requests, just ask them via their website email. Please do yourself and them a favor and ask questions before going. I found them very up front about what they could or could not accommodate, and to what extent.
If you are looking to enjoy a bit of real Parisian life, away from the noise and crush of fellow travelers, Hotel Valadon in the 7th district is a great choice. It is located on a quiet residential street a block away from Rue Cler and close to two metro stations. We took advantage of the numerous bus lines that delivered us very close to major attractions. The area is full of cafes and restaurants, all within a short walking distance, if you wish to dine out. While several other hotels are actually located on or near Rue Cler, my sister and I both agreed we were happy with our choice of Hotel Valadon.
Sounds stupid to add, but I’ll do it anyway. A little common courtesy goes a long way in traveling abroad. The time I spent with “French for Dummies” to learn a few key phrases and brush up on basic social etiquette was well worth it (and was part of the fun of going). We greeted everyone with “Bonjour, Madame” or “Bonjour, Monsieur" as is the custom. When we got lost, and we did several times, we found Parisians willing to stop what they were doing and try and help us despite our limited linguistic skills.
Also, when out and about have local currency on you. I unfortunately observed a couple of women on Champs-Elysees trying to buy postcards with U.S. currency and then challenging the clerk on whether he was right or not on the conversion rate. Be an informed visitor. It will save everyone involved a lot of grief.
Personally, I can’t say enough about Paris, Hotel Valadon and its owners. We truly had a wonderful stay.
Terrible... Remember this is two star hotel.
from A TripAdvisor MemberAbsolutely loved the Hotel Valadon
from A TripAdvisor MemberGreat location close to the Eiffel Tower, Invalides and a great food market street, Rue Cler. We were able to get around the city by bus to see all the sights we wanted to see from this charming hotel in a great location!
Safe!
from A TripAdvisor MemberTop Local Tips for Paris
Getting around If you take the "boat taxi" get a pass for a few days-it's cheaper then paying everyday. If you want an inexpensive way to travel, take the metro (underground travel) easy to follow and close to this hotel. Taxis are VERY expensive.
Rue Cler... Go there! Excellent starting point - easy Metro, and get place to lay your head at night. Love this neighborhood. Stay here! Pay a little more and relax much more!
So Close to So Much of Paris This is an excellent location to take in so much of Paris. You feel safe walking around the neighborhood after dark, you are a 10-minute stroll from the Eiffel Tower, very close to all forms of transportion (metro, bus, walking, taxi), a block away from all essentials. This is not a stuffy hotel - but a cozy and secret great place to enjoy Paris culture. Great value and tremendous location.
