My 11 year old son and I stayed at the Hotel Tourville for 10 days in June 2004. We booked our room late (in May) after trying to get reservations at other hotels in the area that were priced lower (without success). Reviews on Tripadvisor are accurate--Hotel Tourville is in a nice, safe location with pleasant and helpful management. Our room had air conditioning and plenty of space. It was nicely decorated and yes, I loved the vase of long stemmed roses on the dresser but is it a 4 star hotel? We had several opportunities during our visit to see guest rooms at some of the 3 star hotels near by. These rooms were $100.00 a night less than ours and not that much smaller! We would have switched hotels but of course, these hotels did not have any vacancies during our visit to Paris. For our next trip, I will save some money, and probably stay elsewhere.....We left our room early every morning and returned near mid-night visiting all the wonderful museums and attractions in Paris. We had a fantastic trip to Paris....... we could have stayed 10 more days if we had stayed in a hotel that cost less!

My girlfriend and I recently stayed at Le Tourville and absolutely loved it! We had a great room with a private terrace where we had breakfast in the mornings. Everybody was friendly and helpful and it is the perfect base - chic but not snobby.

I shall not bother to try another hotel when I visit Paris in the future as this is just right.

In brief.....was looking foward to our stay at
le Tourville after reading many wonderful reviews on this site. Agree with everyone about Charlotte and Emmanuel. However.... a four star experience?

rooms are just average, no safe, no minibar, small lobby, minimal air from the hair dryer.

We found the location perfect, but there are many hotels of similar ambience within a 2-3 block area which would have been as good.

just returned from a 15 day european vacation and spent the last 4 days in paris at the hotel le tourville. the location is perfect; metro stop, rue cler and grocery store right around the corner. had a beautiful room though small facing the tree lined street for 150 euro. the best part of the hotel is charlotte, the manager..she had a giant tub of ice delivered to our room every night..on the last day of our trip she was able to arrange a direct flight for us from paris to los angeles instead of the 3 stop return flight i had booked..what a relief..we look forward to our next return to the hotel le tourville and charlotte.....

Clean, but expensive

I was really sold on this hotel by other reviews on this site. I did love the hotel and the staff, but felt the room rates were a bit high for the room and service. The location is nice, but not especially convenient for sightseeing. It is a good hotel and I do recommend it, but I do think it is overpriced (We paid 220 euros/night for one of the rooms with a patio in Nov. 2003.)

Great value

My brother and I stayed at Hotel Le Tourville from March 20 till March 24, 2004.

This hotel was nicely located in a quiet area away from the centre of Paris. It was within walking distance of the Eiffel Tower, with a supermarket around the corner, and many cafes and restaurants in the surrounding streets (all within walking distance).

The front desk staff spoke English, and were very helpful. Charlotte, a young lady at the front desk, was fantastic, recommending places to see and telling us how to get there.

Our twin share room was small, but clean and well kept. The room was beautifully decorated with pastel colours, giving it a very French feel. We even had the ability to adjust the temperature in the room.

The breakfast (orange juice, croissant, French bread, cereal) was not included in the price of the room. At 12 Euros, it might have been a little expensive, but we found it very convenient.

The only negatives were the absence of a minibar (which we would have used to store our bottled water), and shower curtain (bathroom floor kept getting wet).

Overall, we found Hotel Le Tourville very comfortable and affordable, and would definitely stay here again.

After a lot of research and deliberation we decided on Le Tourville for our trip to Paris in March 2004.We were not disappointed as the hotel lived up to our expectations based on the previous reviews.Although the room was small,the decor and cleanliness could not be faulted as neither could the service and friendliness of the staff.The location was excellent in an upmarket area close to all the major attractions.We would most certainly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Paris.

We stayed at Le Hotel Tourville for four days in late February. We selected it based on the reviews in tripadvisor.com and we were not disappointed - it exceeded our expectations. Charlotte, on the front desk is great and went out of her way to help us get oriented. Take her recommendations on restaurants too - they were all excellent. The hotel is in a quiet area - but with easy access to the metro - one minute away - and a ten minute walk to the Eiffel Tower, nothing is too far away. Enjoy!!

Excellent option to stay

We stayed just for one night in that lovely hotel. As we just came for the weekend, it was important for us to have a nice hotel close to the city centre. The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms (superior), are small, but very cosy and clean. You can reach the Eiffel Tower in a 20 minutes walk, metro station in 2 min. The hotel helped us to make our short trip to be perfect!!! Only thing, better leave out the breakfast if you have to pay extra. In our rate it was included, but as others mentioned, it is nothing special.

We stayed a week at Le Tourville Hotel and really liked the hotel. For the price, it's hard to beat. They seemed to have made very good decisions on what to spend their money on. It's very tastefully decorated (the W meets French country), immaculately clean, and the location is great. It overlooks a quiet street, but is right near a metro stop and supermarket. It's funny. . .someone else wrote in about their great air system, but it's true, you do notice it-- you have your own digital thermostat in your room and the air is very fresh.

L'Open Tour We used a three-day pass on this tourist bus/boat line to get just about everywhere we wanted to go.

Metrotrain Learn how to read the map and use the Metro.

Use Eurostar Using Eurostar is by far the best way for taking a break to Paris from the south of England - we're in West Sussex. Flying is such a pain these days and taking the car is so unnecessary - buy a Paris Visite ticket when you arrive at Garde du Nord and use it on the Metro and RER for getting around. Now that the Eurostar terminal has moved from Waterloo to St Pancras, if you live south of London you can now drive to Ibbsfleet in Kent and leave your car there.
