Top Local Tips for Paris
Paris needn't be expensive. Try not to eat and drink in the same establishment. Most restaurants/brasseries/bars etc attract customers by advertising either cheap drinks OR cheap food - but never both!. They make their money on whatever food or drinks that customers order to accompany the cheap offerings and these will be very expensive and can double the bill. Only eat where cheap food is advertised - but DON'T ORDER ANY DRINKS with your meal. Then, for a drink, go to the bar next door or up the road where they are advertising cheap drinks - but DON'T ORDER ANY FOOD - not even a bag of peanuts! If you stick to this basic rule, then your stay in Paris shouldn't cost the Earth.
first sunday of the month The first sunday of the month ALL the museums are free to ALL age groups. We had read in our travel guide that they were free to people 26 and under, this was not the case.
Getting to Your Hotel If you are flying into Charles de Gaulle Airport, you have several options for getting into the centre of Paris. We would recommend pre-booking the Parisshuttle transfer service ,for around 70 euros for two people, will meet you at the Airport and take you directly to your hotel and vice versa at the end of your stay. Much easier than using public transport or queuing for a taxi.
