Clean hotel

from blythe243
We stayed for two nights in double room facing the very quiet rue Taylor, and found the hotel very clean, which is rare for this star category in Paris. The room was also slightly larger than average, certainly big enough for two people for two days. Bathroom was a decent size and again, clean. No offensive smells. The gentleman on the reception speaks little English and seems a little grumpy but all you need to charm him is speak a little French and smile. You are in France after all.

The street is very quiet, but in our room we kept hearing an odd tapping sound coming from the pipes above the room, day and night. This was a little annoying but it didnt stop us from sleeping.

Good value for money all in all.

We read the reviews, and they warned us of construction, but the hotel told us that the construction would be finished far before we arrived...not so. The construction was right outside our windows (we rented 3 rooms for 3 days), and along with the lack of privacy and noice was an extremely irritating odor. They moved one of the the room occupants to another room but that really didn't help. They not very interested in our disappointment. The language barrier was significant in the evening when we needed to find a hospital, finally a cab driver figured out what we needed. At the end of the stay they did reduce the price of the rooms to try and make up for the issues. Take away the construction and lack of attention by the reception, and the rooms were adequate and clean.

Good Hotel

from ElCostaRico
The hotel is situated not too far from the" place de la republic". There is a metro: Jacques Bonsergent 5min walk away. The rooms look nice but are small. The bathroom was a disappointment. The overall aspect is nice but their is fungus between the tiles of the shower and that is a little bit disgusting. Hotel front desk service was ok. The room is well isolated.

excellent hotel

from buzzybee247
This hotel is actually two hotels joined together; The Annexe Hotel and Hotel Taylor. We actually booked to stay in the Annexe, but had a room in Hotel Taylor.
The room was large, comfortable and clean, although the bath had a small amount of mould around the side. The hotel was also very quiet which is very unusual for a city centre hotel.
The location is excellent between two metro stations (Republique and Strasbourg St Denis) that can connect you easily with all the attractions and areas you want to visit, although if you dont mind walking you can walk to many places.
Most of the staff were excellent and helped in every way they could.
The breakfast was not included in the room tariff and was very expensive (14 euros). We never took breakfast at the hotel and visited local cafes instead at a fraction of the price.
All in all, we stayed for 5 nights and would stay again.

Was perfectly fine

from betzi78
When I booked the hotel I was not sure if it really would be a nice stay, as I read all the reviews before and sometimes it didn't sound good. But I have to say it was great. It's only a 2 star hotel, but it's very comfortable as it has been renovated recently. Sure the rooms are quiet small, but it was ok as most of the time you're outside. The hotel is very centrally located and you have 2 metro stations nearby. I would go there again.

Hold on to your key

from Bushmills
We had reserved a single and a twin room. When we arrived they seemed to have no record of our booking. They eventually gave us keys to two rooms one of which was already occupied! Evenually they found us another on the ground floor betwen the kitchen and the toilet but the second bed and the TV were on a mezanine level up a steep ladder with no handrail. There were no hangers in the wardrobe, the shower wasn't fixed to the wall and the bathroom door didn't close properly. Ok if you're not planning to spend much time there.

Clean, Economical Hotel

from condor416
I was looking for a hotel where I could sleep and have a shower, and the Taylor met my expectations. There was construction going on to renew the exterior of the building and the workers started at 8 a.m. It didn't bother me because I was up by this time anyway. It might be a good idea to ask about construction progress before booking
This hotel is near the Metro station Republique, so it is convenient for tourist activities.
I found the hotel staff friendly and helpful. The reception staff spoke excellent English.
My room was small, clean and comfortable. The tiled bath was modern and clean. I think it is a good deal for 69 euros/night (single).
I would stay there again.

Cheap but not very welcoming

from Pikachu86
Me and my boyfriend came here to stay for 3 nights in March. I thought I had a bargain as it was cheap and looked and sounded very nice.....
When we arrived the hotel was under construction and looked far from attractive... when we entired the hotel the receptionist was so miserable, rude and really not helpful! He really needed to smile a bit more!
Thankfully our room was quite nice, a bit small but really cosy and clean and we were on the top floor so away from all the construction and the view was ok. However, it was soo hot and stuffy in there that we had to sleep with the window wide open all night - they really need ventilation!
And can you believe the hotel didn't have an iron?! My poor boyfriend had to wear creased clothes (although was quite funny haha)...
Besides all that the location was great, really local to everything and the house keeper was an angel!!

Really good deal

from CaroBristol
My boyfriend and I have just returned from a very enjoyable 6-night stay at the Hotel Taylor. We got a great deal by booking over the internet (40% off normal rates), and have only positive things to stay about the hotel. Our en-suite room with balcony was a decent size, it was really quiet and was cleaned every day. The staff were friendly, there was free Wi-fi internet access, and the breakfast (included in the price) was fine for France (juice, hot drink, croissant, roll and pain au chocolat). It isn't the most central hotel, but a 20 minute walk, or 5-7 minute bus ride will get you to the Hotel de Ville in the very centre of Paris. I would definitely stay here again (it's very convenient for the Eurostar terminal at the Gare du Nord), and believe it definitely represents one of the better deals in the city.

Top Local Tips for Paris

Pickpocket Alert! Protect valuables, especially in crowded places such as Metro. Various hidden pockets, pouches, money belts and the like are available on the market. Read up on security tips.

Get on your bike! The velib bikes are great, although they take a while to set up the first time. Take a ride by the Seine on a sunny day... but stay off the roads unless you are okay with crazy french driving.

Chez Nenesse - a great little restaurant Try Chez Nenesse, a wonderful husband-and-wife restaurant, 17 rue de Saintonge, 3e arrondissement, tel, closed weekends and holidays
