Very nice hotel - would go back anytime
from A TripAdvisor MemberI guess this is the Paris hotel for all Ammerican Airlines Crews..
Location is O.K., Orly bus stops direct in front of the hotel. Metro
nearby.
Bottom line: Very nice hotel - would go back anytime
Comfortable rooms, very good value
from pccschThere is not a lot of restaurants around, but there is some little supermarket in which you can buy some drinks or snacks if you want to avoid minibar prices.
The location is very close to the metro and RER station, and you will be in the center of Paris in less than 10 minutes.
If you want a charming and romantic hotel, don't stay here. But if you need a good value hotel with comfortable rooms and a great staff, the Sofitel Paris Forum Rive Gauche is for you.
Nice clean room, Excellent breakfast
from dennis_ergbIt is a purpose built hotel, so if you are looking for "charm" I suggest elsewhere.
Breakfast was excellent. It's very close to the metro station, and if you want to stretch your legs just a bit you can walk to the busy area of mountparnesee (sp?).
One of the bus lines that goes right to the louvre drops off just down the block, within easy walking distance.
Seemed like all the staff we had contact with spoke at least some english.
We got the hotel through a "free and easy tour (your on your own if you want to be)" and given we only paid for the cheaper hotels this was a real bargain.
The hotel is very nice, I would gladly stay here again.
The only meal we ate at the hotel was breakfast.
The concierge was very accomodating in helping us book dinner reservations ( due to my very very poor french I needed some help)
Good 4 stars Hotel
from A TripAdvisor MemberOk this is not the best 4 stars hotel in Paris, there is a lot of better hotels than this one, but I stay several time in this Sofitel, and I get always a wonderfull time. The rooms are small, right like a lot of hotel rooms in Paris, but with pretty bathroom facilities.
The staff are so helpfull and kindly and always happy to welcome us.
I think this hotel is one in Paris where we can find the best rate for a 4 stars hotel. Most of members who post a previous review on this hotel should think if they pay a really 4 stars rate (like 350 Eur to 600 Eur per night in Paris) or a 2 stars hotels rate ? By paying a $130, it is normal to get standard non renovated room, in my opinion. By paying more, be sure you'll get a deluxe accomodation in every hotels around the world
s Day in Paris 2004
from A TripAdvisor MemberThe room was small, but we did not travel to Paris in order to stay in any room all day. The room was comfortable as was the bath. The room met our needs and then some. Room service was timely, and the maid service superb. We appreciated the small candy surprize we were given each day, along with the weather report card for the day.
The breakfast buffet was just outstanding! I dare say that we didn't have to have lunch at noon time after doing the morning buffet! The greeter at the door to the buffet was especially courteous and quite congenial each and every morning. Our compliments to him.
All Stars ar not Equal
from A TripAdvisor MemberNot bad for the price paid
from Coluche105Nice if you can name your price
from Kim_SNot to bad, but good Breakfast
from A TripAdvisor MemberI would recommend the hotel. However, you can save some money and stay at a 3 star and get the same result.
Big business hotel with no charm, poor location, bad pillows
from mikestageTop Local Tips for Paris
Getting around I definitely recommend folks take the time to learn the Metro. It is simple to understand and very accessible. It saved money on taxis and most times took you right to the location. Recommend purchasing the 10 trip-if there only for a short while. It served us great for two days. We also took the RER from near our hotel directly to the airport, which was very easy. It saved a taxi cab cost of about 60-70 euros. Our ticket on the RER (not subway) was only 8.25 euros a person.
Trains from Charles De Gaulle airport You can take the train from Charles De Gaulle Airport to the hotel if you packed light (we had one backpack and one small rolling bag each), want to save a few dollars, and feel like plunging yourself into the Paris masses immediately upon arrival. Take the RER from Charles de Gaulle and change trains at Nation. Take Nation, Line 6, Green, a couple of stops to Glaciere. There are better directions on the Paris Marriott Rive Gauche website that you can download and print out. Be sure to always save your ticket all the way through to the last stop!
Boat Ride My wife and I took the boat ride right next to Eiffel Tower. It's 10 Euro ($13 USD) and it's well worth it.
