Historical Traveller Reviews of Sofitel Paris Arc de Triomphe Hotel
good location
from LetstakeoffOtherwise service was good and the best of all, breakfast was served till mid-day! Great for those who enjoy a lie-in. Location of the hotel is excellent - short walk to the Champs Elysee, the metro or the Air France bus stop to CDG.
Suite Review
from STEVEFRI always rave about the beds in the Sofitels I have stayed in. They are just such a delight to sleep and laze in all morning. The living area also had French style doors opening onto a small balcony overlooking a residential apartment area and street / square. The staff were courteous and helpful. Room service was slightly slow but it was new years eve, and accompanied with a genuine apology for the time taken.
The little extras in the room were extremely nice. The rubber duck in the bathroom / Hermes Eau De Toilette / Complimentary evian and a bottle of wine / Quality bath robes and huge fluffy towels and slippers. I also love the Roger & Gallet toiletries in the bathroom which is kept well stocked. The suites are expensive but worth the extra expense for a special occasion.
The hotel has a good situation in a quite area within easy walk of the Arc de Triumph and just minutes from the Champs Elysees. The nearest Metro station is Charles de Gaulle Etoile and is also within walking distance situated below the Are de Triumph.
Hotels / shops and bars are closely situated also.
I just loved this hotel and will return again and next opportunity.
Great Hotel in great neighborhood
from dntngalOur room was tiny and delightful, Roger and Gallet toiletries, a giant duvet and featherbed (we called our bed the Guimauve - the marshmallow it was so decadent and comfortable!). We had great robes, nice towels and slippers. The room service did take awhile to bring us our morning coffee, however we were never in a rush. The lobby provided a selection of french and english newspapers. The bar in the lobby often had a pianist playing for the guests as well.
The only complaint I might have would be the fact that the doors slam all through the night, they are not on hinges that keep them from shutting quickly. Otherwise, it is close to walk to the Champs and easy to get to either the Charles de Galle metro or the George V metro station. Lots of little bistros and cafes close by too.
For Sofitel - OK

from skiingutahThe room was very large. We are a family of 4 (Two children) .
great location for nite activities. You are less then a block from the train that takes you everywhere in the city during the day. (Taxi cost about 8 e-purchase the 10 tickets in advance)You can also purchase your louve tickets at the train station. So you do not have to wait in line outside. Avoid Sundays it was very crowded. Breakfast is included in the room price.
The beds were incredible after walking and touring all day.
Hotel was very clean. I had no problem with alarms or service. This was the most accomidating french hotel that we have ever stayed at. It is not the san regis or the four seasons. Is why I rated it accordingly.
For the best sleep of your life
from JittyExcellent location
from A TripAdvisor MemberWe had read a review of the the hotel form this website, and decided to "upgrade" to room 217. Unfortunately, a number of the "mod-cons" weren't working, so this turned out to be a waste of money. We forgot to ask to see a standard room, so were unsure if there was actually any benefit of actually booking this "famous" room. The room though, was very clean and had a separate bath and shower, dressing gowns, slippers, hairdryer and mini bar and numerous other extra's.
The breakfast was excellent, a full selection of cold meats, fruit, cereal, croissants, bacon & eggs etc etc.
In general, I would recommend ths hotel as great place to stay for a great weekend break.
Wonderful in Every Way!

Air France Shuttle If the weather's nice, take the Air France shuttle from CDG to the Arc de Triomphe and walk the 2 blocks to the hotel. It's true, traffic into Paris is pretty bad, and taxis can be expensive. This bus service is better than private shuttles because it only makes one stop, instead of the many stops of other shuttle services. When leaving Paris, you can do the same, or take a taxi. Traffic going to the airport is MUCH less than coming in.
Make an attempt to speak French We found the French people very personable and helpful (despite reports to the contrary). We used our French frequently, and this, I believe, was what made the difference. The good news was that they understood everything we said/requested. The bad news was that they answered us in English. So much for thinking our French accents were great!
Getting around metro, fantastic, cheap easy to use but please please walk to alot of the tourists spots if you are staying in central Paris.Simply pack comfy shoes YOUR LEGS WILL ACHE AND YOUR FEET DIE BUT BELIEVE US ITS WORTH IT AS YOU SEE SO MUCH MORE INSTEAD OF THE BLACK TUNNELS OF THE METRO..FOOD REASONABLY PRICED BUT DRINKS ARE SILLY MONEY £6 - £7 PER PINT AND PER COKE SO START SAVING... AND ENJOY..
