Great hotel

Went on a 3 night break and stayed at this hotel, when we arrvied there the hotel is down alittle side street you can get lost as the hotel is not very big from the outside. Inside was great staff were very helpful and the room we stayed in was large bathroom was lovey, room was cleaned everyday. The bar downstairs was small and never open and the breakfast room was small and so was the lifts 2 people max however I would stay again.

last summer we spent 3 nights at the rochester Champs elysees- we live near Rochester NY so we thought this connection had good vibes for our trip. the hotel was nice, good value, wonderful complimentary breakfast, and great location- a short walk from the famous Champs Elysees- with the Arc deTriumph clear a breathtaking sight as we waited for the bus. We booked a show at the "Lido" and this was an easy walk! Our room facing the street was a bit noisey and the air didn't work at all. We were told that if the windows were opened it would throw off the air. We had to do that every night otherwise we wouldn't have been able to breathe. For 2 of the nights (not weekend nights) the club across the street let out patrons who were roudy and very loud and drunk!
Our party consisted of 7 people, we had 3 rooms and the other 2 rooms were fine- good temp and not noisey.
The desk manager was abolutely the rudest, most unfriendly "service professional" we have ever encountered. Although a concierge was normally on duty, it was clear that if that person was busy that this desk man was not at all willing to entertain any questions. This wasn't a hotel policy because the other person on duty in that function was quite nice. My travel friend and I got to expect his rudeness and even predicted how his behavior would be in the AM.
not the greatest of accomodtions for us, especially our room and certainly the desk man's personality. Clean, convenient and a wonderful breakfast. If there was someplace else to book, we'd probably try that place, but would book at the rochester if no place else with that price and location was available.

Great hotel, great location

Our annual office Christmas party was a weekend in Paris. We, a group of 35, loved the Hotel Rochester and recommend it highly. Our booking needed amending a few times beforehand and the sales coordinator, Morgane, was very patient. Upon arrival, all 35 of us were checked in within a few minutes. The staff was friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a fantastic location -- a two-minute walk from the Champs Elysees, near the metro and with a supermarket almost across the street. It was ideal for a group. Like a previous reviewer, we wish the hotel bar was a little more elaborate, but with so much nightlife so nearby, this wasn't a huge issue. Also, very light sleepers might find the rooms that face the street a bit noisy and should ask for a room facing the courtyard. One light sleeper in our group was in a room overlooking the street and woke a few times from noise. None of the others who had street-side rooms was bothered, however. We had our actual Christmas party at a nearby restaurant, Laduree Champs Elysees, and the food and service were excellent.

Good hotel-shame about the bar

My wife and I stayed here from the 5th to the 7th November. It is very convenient in relation to the Metro and within an easy stroll of all the designer shops. The room was comfortable but the bathroom had frosted glass and no curtains. Given that it faced other windows across a court yard, this was a little disconcerting! The desk staff were very good, but would not/could not open the bar. So after returning to the hotel after a tiring day sight-seeing, we were forced to go out for a drink, or use the (very expensive) mini bar. Apart from this glitch, we found the hotel to be more than adequate and would probably stay there again.

Convenient location, friendly staff

We stayed here for 3 nights. The concierge team was very helpful and friendly. Our room (standard double) was very clean but a bit small. We were unable to upgrade because they were full. Breakfast (continental) was adequate. The location is convenient.

We stayed a week at this marvelous hotel and enjoyed the close proximity to just about everything. It is a few minutes walk to the Champs Elysee and the metro station is just around the corner. There was a bakery around the corner from the hotel that was just delightful, and do I need to say how wonderful the bakery and croissants, etc. were!!!!! Everyone in the hotel speaks english so not speaking French is not a problem. My husband speaks French so that we did not have a problem in communicating anywhere we went. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. If you need to communicate through email and did not want to carry a laptop with you, they have free access in the lobby; however, we soon discovered that their keyboard with the placement of keys is a little different. It took some getting used to, and the internet connection is slow.
We would definitely come back and stay at the Rochester.

If you have read all the reviews of this hotel you get a very fair assesment from all of them as to what to expect.
I don't think you can be better placed in Paris to see all the sights and the Champs Elysee is literally a 3 min walk away. Even on a sunday night at midnight it is so buzzy that you feel at the centre of all the action.
The Rochester's rooms are very nice indeed with lovely bright bathrooms and both are cleaned to a high standard. The lobby area is all mirrors and gold, not quite my taste and breakfast is ok however I find hotel breakfasts to be poor value.
The Rochester is situated on a busy commercial street and being narrow like many Paris roads it is a bit noisy during the week.Request a room overlooking the inner courtyard and that is especially relevant just now whilst building work is going on.
Finally two tips: Avoid the minibar / when will hotels price them more realistically, or perhaps they don't want you to use them!! Stock up at the supermarket opposite {closed Sunday}
and use taxis as they are very reasonable.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 nights in one of the street front rooms and had a delightful stay. The rooms are average size and furnished nicely. The room and the entire hotel is very bright and clean. The hotel staff and concierge group are very friendly and go out of their way to assist you. The breakfast room staff is also very nice.

They are expanding the hotel and there is some construction work being done but it is not noticeable. The location is wonderful. Will stay here again.

Perfect Place to Stay in Central Paris

Choose to book up with Paris Travel Service a break for 3 nights for the price of 2 on Eurostar, bargain!

Arrived and at first wasn't sure being in a room next to the lift and cleaners room was ideal, but as we soon realised both were quiet! Room very big and exceptionally clean, view out onto the terrace below. Luxury 4* and had everything and more that we wanted. 2 minutes from the tube, so no need to get a cab, only about 15 minutes from Gare Du Nord with 1 change.

Breakfast was OK, but plenty of food shops around and supermarket literally across the road for food and cheap wine! I am not a big fan of european breakfast but you could have cooked options if you paid extra. Breakfast was served until 10 I think, so gave you time to relax.

Would go back, as central for all sights!

Top Local Tips for Paris

BOFINGER Try and get a table at this restaurant, it is fantastic.

Taxis to CDG Save Your Coins And take a taxis to CDG about 50 euro, wouldn't think of trying the RER given the transfers required from this location

Dining in Paris doesn't have to cost you a fortune! Do some research online or through other travellers for dining locations. We found a fabulous place with a nite-time view of the Eiffel Tower to-die-for and the menu was reasonably priced and food quality was very good. Many places in the same location had menus with outrageously priced fare....we always looked at the menu before committing to dining. Pinos Pizza on the Champs Elysees has great Italian food that will suit most N.A. travellers (it will be what you're used to at home)..if you travel outside of Paris, eg. Latin Quarter there are tons of fabulous restaurants with menus at a fraction of the price. Also, when you're dining, if you want water make sure you say "eau de table" unless you want to pay a heavy price for bottled water..they will automatically bring you bottled unless you indicate otherwise. We drank the "eau de table" (tap water) whole trip...there's nothing wrong with their tap water.
