Rude, unfriendly and homophobic

I booked Residence Vauvilliers via the Paris Tourist Office website purely because of the price and location, for a short weekend away with my (male) partner. On arrival, the man at the reception, who I take to be the owner, said that he could not accept two men, claiming that the beds are not comfortable enough, and could only offer two men travelling together two singles! Not only would this cost more, but it is also FLAGRANTLY against the law in France to discriminate on the basis of sexuality. Naturally, we left in disgust. Last night I received an e-mail saying I was a no-show and I think that my card will be charged!! NEVER STAY AT THIS HOTEL.

The wors experience in a hotel in my life

I will recomend everybody not to chose this hotel. The owner is a liar and also a non trustworthy person. She forgot our reservation, we had to make our bed with dirty sheets!! I did not sleep the all night through because I was itching all over. The bathroom was dirty as well, and, as we complained, she came, took a towel and Mr Proper and cleaned superficially. As we wanted another room, she gave us another one at the same price: now I have discovered that she gave us a less expensive one at the same 42 euros. At the end, she did nos gave us any invoice and she make us pay 43 euros more without any explanation. About fire, is true: any fire escapes.

Residence Vauvilliers prefers not to issue guest receipts

The owner did not want to issue receipts. The bed was extremely uncomfortable -- the mattress looked very old, torn and was full of bumps. There were no adequate fire escapes considering the narrow turning staircase. At the cost of 33 euro, it was not VERY cheap; especially, considering that there was no TV, kettle, or a refrigerator in the room. The owner also choose to tell me I could not eat sardines in the room and sought to advise me that I ought to do laundry. Some of you will now consider me to be too judgmental -- if I were to grant the owner a rating of [10] would I not be judgmental?

Pleasant owner, spotlessly clean, great location

Have stayed here for the past 15 years. Friendly Madame Haddou, the owner, keeps place spotlessly clean. The location is super. Direct RER to/from airport, nearby the Louvre, shopping on rue Montorgeuil, the Seine three blocks away. Les Halles shopping center and Metro station about one block away. Across Les Halles is St. Eustache cathedral. Best of all, it's still inexpensive.
