Historical Traveller Reviews of Regina Paris Hotel

Great location/value!

from renae29
My new husband and I stayed at the Regina in June 2004 for 5 nights. We got married in Paris and rented 3 rooms so we could take our friends with us for our wedding. So we got to see 3 rooms, 1 was a jr suite. The regina is a great 4 star hotel. The location is prime you cant beat it - across the street from the Louvre, you can see the eiffel tower from many rooms. And the price is great. We were paying for 3 rooms so it was still pricey, but I think worth it. The hotel could use some upgrades, furniture wise, it is worn and the beds are really lumpy. But the bathrooms are amazing, new and marble. My travel agent wasnt too keen on my going with the regina, she kept trying to steer us to the left bank, which is more trendy. But I wouldn't change where we stayed for a minute. If you have been to Paris a ton of times, you might like the left bank better b/c you've already seen all the touristy stuff on the right bank. But if you are going to be a tourist and do touristy things, you will love the regina b/c the location is prime. Also, we had continetal breakfast included in the price of the rooms, get that if you can! Otherwise breakfast is 20 euro per day. You can have your breakfast delivered to your room or go down and eat it in the restaurant. Continental breakfast is great fresh baked goods, a pot of coffe/tea and OJ. They have a buffet but it was only eggs/bacon and not worth the extra 10 euros for us.

Fabulous location !

What a great surprise when we arrived. Fantastic location and beautiful hotel. One of our three rooms was quite nice the other two pretty cramped but we spent so little time in them it was ok. Pleasant walking distance from Notre Dame and the left bank. Quick walk to Metro station. Lovely buffet breakfast. Very pleasant staff. We did not choose to eat at the hotel - we thought it looked very "stuffy" and quite pricey. We found great places just walking around. I would stay there again and would recommend this hotel for first time visitors specifically because of the location.

What a View!

First time in Paris and we get a fabulous view of the Eiffle Tower and Tuileres garden from our very large third floor room. Very comfortable beds, and wonderfully clean bathrooms. Close to everything, Metro stations, RER trains, the Louve etc. Our kids loved the McDonald's down the street for a quick and cheap breakfast and the carnival rides across the street were a blast. Excellent and friendly staff and conceirge. Our three days went by too fast and we plan to return again soon.

Pleasant Surprise

Stayed at the Regina the night before connecting with a barge cruise to Burgundy. An ideal location, but awefully close to tourist trap shops. Was very pleased at the huge room size, along with a dressing/closet area that alone was as big as some rooms in Paris. The marble bath was equally impressive. It was clean, quiet, and about as close to the Louve as you can get. The only negative was that they did not have the funds to cash an AMEX Euro's Traveler's Check. Got the room through the internet for 250 Euro's, and was told it was normally a 540 Euro rate room.

honeymooners in Paris

This hotel is nothing special except for its location. I have no complaints like the other hotels that I've stayed during our four week journey in Europe. We visited Paris many times before, and knew that this area was the place we wanted to be nearby. There are lots of bars and two cool clubs (REX etc..) The hotel was a lot smaller than Nice hotels, but everything is smaller and more expensive in Paris. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, and we had a great time for nightlife. One of my best shared secrets is the Hotel Mansart..its a great hotel located right next to the Place VaDome, near the Armani shop for those who want to be near the Ritz hotel.

great place in the heart of Paris

We spent 6 nights at the Regina and could not have found a better spot in all of Paris. The hotel is old but has been lovingly maintained. Located in the heart of Paris within walking distance of almost everything. Will stay there again!

Old-world friendly charm

from JoesBrigade
The hotel was ideally placed near good restaurants and cafe's and the Seine was under 2 minutes walk away. Our room was on the second floor and overlooking the Rue de Rivoli with the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe visible in the distance.

The room was clean, beatifully decorated and the double glazing seemed to keep out the traffic noise for us.

The breakfasts were excellent and the staff here and on the desks were the most polite, friendly and efficient that we have come across for a while.

The bar was very cozy with its wood panelling but watch the prices.
They could do with lowering a bit to encourage greater usage.

We would highly recommend the hotel and its location for any short stay and central platform for sightseeing.

What a view !

Like stepping back in time. Beautiful old world style with all the amenities. Our room was on the second floor facing Rue de Rivoli. The view was incredible. From our room we had wonderful views of the Louvre, the gardens and the Eiffel Tower. At night the traffic was somewhat noisy...never ending and the rooms can become hot, but none the less it was a wonderful place to stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommended for it's beauty and location.

The Essence of Paris

from A TripAdvisor Member
Our trip was 3 years ago this day March 17th for our Honeymoon. We stayed 5 nights at this absolutely charming and historic Hotel in the heart of Paris. The d?cor is very turn of the century and emphasizes the Parisian style of life. The staff was great and very helpful. The breakfast was our favorite with egg-ceptional eggs, meats, cheeses, coffee and the addictive chocolate croissants. The location was right across the street from the Louvre and Jardin des Tuileries. They filmed a couple of commercial while we were there. It was never a nuisance because they filmed in the middle of the day and only for a couple of hours or so. We thought it was quite interesting, in fact since our visit we have seen the Regina Hotel in two different Hollywood movies. I would highly recommend this Hotel we will definitely be going back on our fifth year anniversary.

Location, yes; otherwise no

from Underhill
We stayed at the Regina by virtue of a corporate rate, and perhaps that's why we were stuck in a boxy little room on the mezzanine floor, just down the hall from a suite of offices. The room was very much in need of refurbishing; the furniture was scratched and nicked, and there wasn't much space. The modernized bathroom was smaller than one would expect at a 4* hotel, but upkeep was good thanks to a very hard-working maid. Other rooms that we saw looked far nicer, but although we asked to be moved it did not happen.

Top Local Tips for Paris

Great Restaurants Aux Lyonnais. We loved the food and the service! Also Brasserie Lipp - Definitely to be recommended for Sunday lunch

Tickets/Passes The concierge has tickets to major attractions saving you having to wait in long lines at the actual site.

Try for an upgrade. Free upgrades are there waiting for you to ask. The worst they can say is "Sorry - no", but a good trip can become a great trip just by being a little cheeky!
