Top Local Tips for Paris
Be nice The Regence Etoile is a small hotel, so don't expect a full business center or gym. For the hardcore business person, a bigger hotel may be better. I prefered the charm of the small hotel. They all speak great English at the desk, among other languages, but be patient if they can't get you a taxi right away, it's not their fault. Sometimes taxis just don't show up. There are times in Paris when getting a taxi is simply impossible. Leave tips for the ladies who work in the restaurant downstairs. Your breakfast is included, but it's a nice gesture and it's appreciated. They work hard to make everything fresh and tasty and presented nicely. Smiles go a long way. If you need something special, ask them and they'll try their best. But if they can't help for whatever reason, just remember you are not at the Marriott. If you want to stay in and order room service, this is not the place for you, as there is no restaurant. But with so many places outside your door, who cares!
Marais, Bastille I LOVED this area of Paris. Very trendy, great boutiques and cafes. Much better than the Champs-Elysee or Blvd Hausmann. Also found some galleries with exhibitions of local clothing and jewelry designers. This area was also recommended to me by local Parisians as the place to go while I was there.
To and from the airport The very convenient Air France bus from CDG to the Arc de Triomphe at 20E p/p round trip
