A real treat!

from Coluche105
I had a marvelous weekend there in January. The room was very nice with a sort of Laura Ashley print wallpaper, huge bathroom (with lovely shower curtains matching the wallpaper) stocked with plenty of toiletries, terrycloth robes and slippers, beveled mirrors. The service was the best of all, with beds turned down at night, bedspreads hidden behind the curtains, towels changed several times a day. I found all personnel very helpful and extremely courteous. I did not detect any different treatment because I was a Priceline customer. However, beware as they charge 3.50 Euros per call made with a telephone card!!! We did not eat there, as the buffet breakfast is 39 Euros per day. We ate at a sort of snack shop down the way (towards the Champs Elysees metro station) where we had a croissant, coffee and fresh juice for 2.95 Euros. I had a great time and thank Priceline for allowing me to spend a weekend at this beautiful hotel that I could never have afforded otherwise. The room was $210 per night plus $10 bonus.

Fabulous Hotel

from LJR1011
I just returned from 4 fabulous nights at this hotel and except for the cost, I can not find anything wrong. The room was large, bright and had the best shower I have ever had. The staff was wonderful and could not have been nicer to me. The only negative is the cost for the food and drinks. I can't wait to go back.

Well Worth It

My wife and I just got back from Paris and loved our stay at the Prince de Galle! The staff was extremly courteous and went out of their way to accomodate our needs not to mention our language barrier...This hotel is in a prime location its a 2 minute walk to the Champ Elysee in one direction and a 5 minute walk to see the Eiffel Tower in the other direction. The hotel conceierge was also a huge help, thanks to him we had two of the best meals to ever touch our lips!

Great Hotel, Great Location.....

Wonderful stay

from adanzig
Redeemed five night's worth of Starwood points to spend a week at this lovely hotel -- 12/25 through 12/31. No, its not on par with the Four Seasons -- but its nonetheless a lovely, well-kept, well-run, elegant, right-bank hotel. The two shouldn't be compared simply because of their geographic proximity. Our room was spacious (although, sadly, my SPG Gold membership didn't translate to an upgrad) -- we had a "real" King bed which I didn't actually believe existed in Europe! Linens were a bit scratchy (oh, when will Europe adopt the Heavenly Bed?!) but the feather duvet was a delight. Our bathroom was immaculate and enormous by Paris standards -- all fixtures were new. Staff was courteous and always happy to speak English. Costs in the hotel restaurant and bar are absolutely astronomical -- regardless of the weak dollar -- but with all of the brasseries, cafes and other establishments in the neighborhood (or a short metro ride away), they're unnecessary. A delightful stay overall.

A Wonderful Experience for 5 Days

from janthony10
Everything about the Prince de Galles hotel was wonderful. The staff treated us splendidly, especially the concierge and the bell staff. Any problems were resolved quickly. Very friendly. They put up with my bad French with good humor.

The rooms were very comfortable -- we stayed in more than we should have for being in Paris! The hotel lobby had beautiful flowers and furnishings, the elevators were fast and available at quick notice, otherwise, the stairs were easy to access and use.

The restaurant and room service were expensive, and portions were small, but we made due with a combination of restaurants and food from wonderful shops nearby.

The location was perfect, with an easy walk to many sights. This is the only hotel we will stay at in Paris!

Really Very Nice

from A TripAdvisor Member
We really enjoyed our stay at the Prince De Galles. The staff was very, very helpful and courteous--great service.

Our room was large and tastefully decorated, with a good and large bathroom with all the amenities, a comfortable bed and PLENTY of closet space.

The bar prices are ridiculous--that's true--but why stay in the hotel? The location is good...near shopping and a 10 minute walk across the bridge to the Eiffel Tower.

We did get a good rate, through Priceline--

Is it worth 5 stars? I think so, if you compare it to 4-star hotels. It is certainly nicer than a Four Seasons and a Ritz I have visited in other cities.

Loved the Prince!

from ChicagoDJ
I just completed a five-night stay at the Prince de Galles and had a fantastic experience. The hotel overall is outstanding, with well-appointed rooms and a terrific 1920s feel. The staff was extremely accommodating, from the check-in representatives to the hotel's concierge staff, which we used on a daily basis during our stay. The staff successfully negotiated through a couple of small problems, which were quickly resolved to our satisfaction. And then there's the hotel's location -- within walking distance of the Champs Elysees, the Arc de Triomphe, the Seine and the Eiffel Tower, not to mention dozens of great restaurants. I had some hesitation in staying at this property based on the previous reviews, but I can say that I observed none of the problems/issues that other reviewers complained about. I can also say that I would stay again at this hotel, without hesitation. An A+ experience.

Prince de Galles - nice enough but please smile

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at the Prince de Galles. Nice hotel, great location. Rooms are large and bright with all touches expected from Starwood. Welcoming was fine if somewhat abrupt but we were amazed at the manners in the restaurant - maitre d and waiters just seem to do their jobs on auto and without much interest. Shame of the food which is great.

Not quite worthy of 5 stars!

from cfreeman
We stayed at this hotel on a part business/part pleasure trip, so the fact that it was paid for certainly helped! I would have been very disappointed to have shelled out €450 for the smallest room on the floor. Saying that, the quality of the furniture, linens and bathroom was excellent - just what you would imagine from an old-fashioned 5 * hotel. The hotel bar prices were ridiculous though - €17 for a vodka! And a continental room service breakfast (albeit served with a yellow rose) was was overpriced at €29.
Great location helped, right off the Champs Elysee. Can't help wishing we were next door at the Four Seasons though!

Excellent staff

from DrFryeTheTravelGuy
THis was a very nice hotel. It is right next door to the Four Seasons(which is a little nice as well as more expensive). It is conveniently located by several major attractions. The staff was excellent. Very friendly and helpful. Our luggage was lost at the airport and the concierge took care of retrieving it for us. Everyone spoke english which was very kind of them. The rooms felt very european. The hot chocolate in the restaurant is to die for. The was a nice hotel, however, next time in France we will not stay in the city. The city just doesn't compare to the beauty of the French countryside.

Top Local Tips for Paris

Don't miss Versailles Don't leave Paris without a visit to Versailles. A short train ride that costs about $2/pp will take you there. It is simply exquisite, particularly in summer and I imagine in the fall though can't speak from experience. But, the gardens must be breathtaking when in full bloom. .

Cakes & Macarons Try out Laduree on the Champs Elysees - it's open from Breakfast to Late Dinner. But no need to eat there. Go in and try some of their patisseries and macarons. They are the best in Paris - not cheap but it does not come Any Better!!!!

Forget the metro, take the bus You seen one subway, you seen 'em all. If you're in Paris, what do you want to see - tiled subway walls, or Paris? The bus is just as fast, cheap and convenient and you get to see the city while you're going from Point A to Point B. The system is a little confusing at first, but there is a logic to it and it's easy to plot out your trips this interactive map:
