I thought it was my duty to come and inform people planning to stay at this hotel about what I went through while staying there. I have travelled allover and have had some crazy experiences but none crazier than this night. Ok, so my girlfriend and I arrive in Paris at 8 in the morning on the coach from the UK, we are trying to find a hotel but understandably they won't let us check in till midday...the last hotel we try before we go for lunch is the Hotel Paris-Bruxelles...we make it clear to the guy on reception that we want the room for that night till the morning (clarifying about three times that this would be so as we know that some hotels have day rates) but also asks if he minds if we check in then. He says as the room is empty that not a problem. He puts us in the room next another room thats basically a building site and all the way through our two hour nap, there is banging and sawing then the fire alarm goes off and the chambermaid and the builder end up having a domestic as he has st fire to the room)...we think 'ok, not A problem' and we get up and go about our day. We have a lovely day touring Paris (we cna only stay one night as we are quite poor at the moment) then get abck to the hotel at around 11pm...where we are informed by the same guy on reception that we have been checked out of our room as the 60 euros we paid was only for 8 hours (?). He says we can have our room back if we pay another 60 euros for it...ok a>we don't have any more euro's as we are leaving in the morning (we have english money), b> we had clarified all this with him in the morning to make sure this very thing didn't happen and c> all our belongings are still in the room where we left them so the hotel hadn't check us out at all. Bearing in mind we are both female, young and don't really fancy sleeping on the streets of Paris for the night, we ask if he can call his manager, he says he doesn't know the number....then we ask if he has the number for the police...he doesn't know that either (really?!) I go outside to call my friend but blag the receptionist and tell him I've got the number for the police so I'm going to give them a call (I'm just tyring to scare him into stopping trying to scam us)...the change that comes over this guys face is unbelievable, he comes flying out fists raised and tries to grab the phone off me, I duck out of the wayand back off down the street. When he see's he cannot catch me, he goes back up to the hotel and casually locks my girlfriend inside with him where he screams and shouts and pushes her (my girlfriend is 5'ft and tiny)...I'm shouting outside the window trying to get him to let her out. He says I must pay 60 euros or he won't let her out. Eventually he comes to his senses and pushes her out the door. Now, we should have rang the French police but we realisd that as we were so tired when we checked in, we didn't have a recepit for having paid our room fee so we really didn't want the hassle of this dude lying to the police...we can speak French bu no enough to fully defend ourselves against fluent tongues. I have lodged a complaint with the British embassy and I wanted to make you guys all aware of the scam this guy tries to pull. He is left in the hotel alone all night, there is no CCTV and he probably gets away with it quite a lot with 1 night hotel guests. So don't bother going here, there is better value elsewhere!
Great service and staff

the mobilis ticket dont bother with paris visite card, its an absolute ripoff, buy a mobilis ticket 2 zones, ie central paris, for 5 euro 80 per day . if you have any kids under 12 get them a paris visite enfant , zones 1-3 for 4 euro 30 per day. buy a carnet( 10 single tickets) price 11euro 40 for first day and last day to get to and from hotel . have change in coins for this as some metro stations will not take notes
