My family and i went there this August 2005. the room (number 206) that we were given was so dirty and smelly, it's unbelievable for an european country. Everything about this hotel is disgusting.

This hotel is located in a beautiful place, about 200 m to Sacré-Coeur, and that is the only good thing about it. The room we were placed in was very small with dirty 20-30 y.o. carpet, which even if you wanted to vacuum or clean wouldn't possible to do. The wallpaper on the walls was with oily black spots and lots of mold. In some places it was even turned apart. When we entered to the room, it was stinking, probably due to that carpet. So, we slept with the open windows. The shower was very dirty, with hair in the sink and broken ventilation, and a lot and I really mean a lot of mold. The breakfast room was also very small and without ventilation. The breakfast itself consisted of one croissant and a piece of French bread with coffee and canned jam. The staff was nice and very friendly. However, when we asked to change a room, the room was even worse than we got previously. Two stars which were given to this hotel by I don't know who an when (maybe 30 y. ago) surprised us a lot. I guess that explains why we couldn't find a picture of the room in the brochure. I would never stay in this hotel again. I took some pictures of this room and will try to post them asp.

Top Local Tips for Paris

you need to be fit.. There are lots of stairs by the hotel and Sacre -Coeur., Monmartre is VERY hilly , and to make the most of it you need to spend time on foot. From the Moulin-Rouge metro you can get Montmartrobus - a little bus that takes you to sacre-coeur. From there you walk down steps to Rue Paul Albert (get a map of Paris) OR take a taxi.

Over-rated, over-priced Go to a supermarket and buy fresh produce if you can - baguettes, salads, fresh (cooked) meat etc and drink. Looking forward to good French cuisine and ended up eating expensive awful, must-have-been-cooked-for-days slop.

Dizzy magic Enjoy the Jardin des Tuileries - take a book and some food and just relax on a clear sunny day. Louvre is just a 2 minute walk away. Walk down the streets without any agenda - drink in the surroundings and the great wine - sit for a bit and watch people. Listen to the silence of the quiet streets and the music of the musicians. Experience the way the day flows - slowly without any hurry. Enjoy the innate style of the people there. Take time out to just be - after the hectic siteseeing and visits to the museums and churches -- just take in the mood. The magic in the air will make you dizzy and you embark on a moody techniclour experience.
