dinner and beer, Mmmmm Try dinner at the Culture Bier resturant (Champs Elyse) which matches great beer with dinner and also has a great stocked bar with Belgium beers
Eating a snack There is a "boulangerie" (bakery) just on the other side of the rue de la grande armée. You can buy nice croissants, sandwiches, sodas, 3 times cheaper than in the hotel.
Petit Zinc restaurant near the left bank, not far from the Rue St Germain We had been told about this restaurant by a friend who used to live in Paris and we actually stumbled upon it on our first night. We hadn't booked but as we were early, we got a table and selected the Daily Fixed Menu. It was fantastic. The ambience, the decor, the staff and most importantly the food were superb. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone. There's no need to be dressed up but you can choose to be if you wish. It's a great place to people watch too. We saw a young chap arrive with his girlfriend/wife and her family and he demanded a round table. The maitre d' was very accommodating but they did not have a table big enough for his party. After several minutes the chap announced he was going to eat elsewhere and they left the restaurant. Within 30 minutes they were back again! They'd looked around the other places in the area and decided they liked the look of Petit Zinc best. They returned to their large square table quite happily.
