Excellent Value for Money

Me and my husband have just returned from the hotel and were very happy with our stay there and would recommend it to anyone. It was a great location, just opposite the station, great for eating out, plenty of restaurants etc. Also good for buses, Eurostar and Metro. The only downside I would say was the fact that our room was on the road so therefore had some noise outside of a night, but of course that would not bother some people. Other than that, everything was fine. The breakfast was excellent, it was a buffet and had everything that you could want for breakfast, except, if English, did not have traditional fry-up, just scrambled eggs and sausages or boiled eggs. You do not go hungry!!
Also to be noted, no tea/coffee facilities in room which if we had known would have taken a travel kettle.

This hotel is situated right opposite Gare Du Nord Station. Upon arriving at the hotel we found the most helpful and courteous staff on the reception desk. The room was spotlessly clean. The continental breakfast was excellent with a wide variety to choose from, including scrambled egg and sausage. We had one small problem with the shower. When we reported this to reception, within 10 minutes the matter had been rectified. The purpose of our visit was to celebrate my birthday, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We shall most certainly stay at this hotel again in the future. As a matter of interest, the Metro is 50ft from the front door, and is the must way to travel around Paris and very cheap. When we left the hotel, we found ourself 3 minutes walk from Eurostar departure lounge. In conclusion, two very satisfied customers.
Good, clean, basic and convenient.

The hotel couldn't be more convenient being opposite the main entrance of the Gare Du Nord station making it a fantastic base to tour Paris via the excellent Metro, as well as having direct trains from Charles De Gaulle airport and the Eurostar from London.

As a hotel it's facilities are basic but clean. The room was simple but pleasant enough, worth it for the balcony and the view we had over the Gare Du Nord's ornate facade with the sacre Cour in the distance. We only once tried to use the hotel bar and found it closed at 11pm, though in Paris, I'm not sure why you would want to stay in and use the hotel bar?

The area around the hotel was ok, areas around stations are never the best but it's nothing a city dweller would baulk at. A few beggers, a few fast food joints nearby, but also some excellent cafes. We had several late nights and didn't feel at all threatened walking around.

Overall, a simple but clean and welcoming hotel that makes an ideal base for travelling around the city.

The Hotel location is very good for transport but we didn't feel safe walking round at night time. There were several groups of young lads hanging about on street corners and a number of beggars laid full length across the pavement so that you had to walk round them. The local area was rough.
We arrived on a Sunday afternoon and after several hours touring round we decided to go and relax in the hotel bar for the evening. We found it closed this was about 8.30pm. I asked a porter in reception if the bar would be opening he simply said its closed. I asked is this because its Sunday ? He leaned into my face and said in a loud voice "its closed" Not a nice experience. Having said that, the girls working on Reception were very pleasant and helpful.
We found the Bar open on Tuesday evening but only just, we entered at 11.30pm after a night out only to be told we are just closing, we managed one drink. This is not very good for a large hotel.
The breakfast was very basic and not worth the 14EUR charge.
The bedroom was a good size. The bed sheets were clean but the rest of the bed covers were dirty and stained.
We would look for another hotel next time.
Wonderful Service!

After a long day, a welcome relief. Good food, clean and wonderful view from balcony! Near all essential transport.

Historical Traveller Reviews of Mercure Terminus Nord Hotel

In the right place

from A TripAdvisor Member
We just spent an Easter weekend at the Terminus Nord in Paris. We picked it because it is close to the Eurostar terminal - and it certainly is, just 50 yards!

The reception service was friendly. The room was modest in size but big enough, and clean and as we were at the back it was totally quiet, despite being on a busy corner.

The breakfast was OK with a good variety although the breakfast room did get busy at peak times.

The location is also ideal because Gare Du Nord underground, outside the hotel, is on many lines to the centre of Paris - and the tour bus even stops outside the reception. The hotel will also keep your luggage on the day you leave.

A little dissapointed

from Moira1912
Recently stayed at this hotel for three nights the hotel is in a great position for getting arround Paris but theres not much arround the hotel itself the area is poor a few scruffy bars one decent restaurant no shops worth a mention .
The roads outside are extremally noisy so its impossable to sleep with the windows open so I wouldnt even consider staying there in summer as there is no air conditioning
The hotel is quite nice inside although the furnishings and decor are looking tired and worse for wear .I was very dissapointed that the rooms had no tea/coffee making facillities someting I thought there was sure to be in a three star !
We did find the staff helpfull and the breakfasts were very good with a fair amount to choose from .

t believe the rave reviews

from A TripAdvisor Member
I can't believe the rave reviews that this hotel garnered on this website.
It was an average hotel with slightly claustrophic rooms, no thanks to the frilly furnishings and low ceilings.

That said, it was an average hotel, clean with a good-sized bathroom (although our bathroom door had a hole which looked like it was made with a fist)

The staff, however, were v helpful and friendly. and the location was great (just opp the gare du nord) although that meant there were a few strange women wandering around the front of the hotel asking the tourists for change.

the opera areas seems a lot more central and friendly for shopping and sightseeing. Would recommend this hotel only for those on a short stay in paris or who are travelling on the eurostar to London *as we were!

Good value Parisian Hotel

from travelhilly
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights last week. It was very convenient for us as it was opposite the Gare du Nord and we got an RER train there directly from CDG airport (7.85 euros)
The area was lively and cosmopolitan. There were lots of bars and eateries to choose from. The hotel itself has very smart public areas, but the bedroom we had was rather small and slightly in need of smartening-up. However it was clean enough and surprisingly quiet. The staff were very friendly and polite. In fact we encountered none of that legendary Gallic surliness anywhere in Paris that I remember from visits years ago.
The breakfasts were delicious. I thought the hotel offered very good value as we got 3 nights for the price of 2. If you are travelling by Eurostar it would be a natural choice.

A bit disappointed

from A TripAdvisor Member
We booked the special internet rate of 121 Euro for our visit in July and I guess we got what we paid for. Our room was clean but very worn, slightly faded wallpaper and stained carpet. We were on a smoking floor but I couldn't detect any cigarette smell in our room. My main complaint was the bed. No bedspread, just sheeting and the mattress was so lumpy that it felt as if we were actually sleeping on the box spring. I felt that 121 Euro was a bit pricy for the quality of our room. Positive notes are friendly staff and beautiful public areas. We took an overnight trip from London via Eurostar and chose this hotel because it's just across the street from the train station and will hold your luggage free of charge.

Beautiful Parisian Hotel

from A TripAdvisor Member
I stayed in this hotel this summer while vacationing in Frace with a group from my school. Our group as a whole adored the hotel. Just on either side of it were a resturant plus a small market just a few paces down the sidewalk. Infront of our hotel is a Metro station, so its easy to get anywhere in Paris from there. The hotel gives a great perspective of Parisian life, and is beautifully surrounded my landmarks new and old. Anyone of any age will love it. It's only setback is that it doesn't have air-conditioning, but if one just cares to cool off, open the windows to exprience the lovely breeze that is in France. The hotel is "tres bien".

Very, very nice...

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel is very nice... I was there for 3 days to attend to a conference. My company had paid the staying but I know the prices are low for the quality I observed in the hotel.

Since you have Gare du Nord, exactly in front of the Hotel, you have no problems with carring you around through Metro or RER to any part of Paris.

I can say to you all I was "Enchanté"!!!

Very Parisian

from A TripAdvisor Member
Stayed at this hotel recently. Very very Parisian with a wonderful atmosphere. Staff were quite helpful and the breakfast was superb. Only complaint was a funny rumbling noise which went on throughout the hotel in the night. Not sure whether it was just our room but it sure was noisy!! Otherwise location was great for the Eurostar and would definitely consider staying here again.

A little Versailles in the middle of Paris

from A TripAdvisor Member
This hotel has atmosphere! Although it is not in a very good area, we felt safe and welcome. It has the cutest little rooms and the staff are friendly and very attentive. We had some challenges with the telephones, but this did not bother us, because the rest made up for it. This Hotel has LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION! You can literally go anywhere in Paris from the North Station, which is right opposite the Hotel. we also took an open bus tour from here and "did" most of Paris in a day. Being in the industry myself, I can truly say that this Hotel is a gem. Merci Libertel, we truly enjoyed it.

Great for Eurostar

from A TripAdvisor Member
IF you are coming from the Eurostar, this is an
excellent hotel as it is DIRECTLY across from the train. It has
a fantastic restaurant, but there is not much else around. You
will take the Metro everywhere, but it is well located with the
Metro right outside the door. Best of all, you can leave your
luggage on the day you leave and pick it up when you are ready to
board the train. The rooms are very nice (small).
