Friendly staff...

We arrived to the Marena hotel to find friendly staff, and a nice welcome. The rooms are pretty good, clean, and comfortable. I'd say only decent if you're staying for a few days like I did. The receptionist helped us with directions, bus routes and taxis, which was really good of them to take the time out to explain to us considering we didn't know alot of French, and vice versa.
When we stayed the hotel was having a re-vamp, so some construction works were going on, but not that noisy! And, at least they're giving it a good do over, as it's kind of stuck in a time warp in some places. The breakfast was ok, I'd of liked more choice, that is the only thing I can fault really.
Overall pretty decent hotel for the price, friendly staff, lovely reception area, nice rooms, nice view from room window.

bus The red tourist bus had lots of broken headphones, you should use the city sightseeing they go near the marena too.
Metro Dont be afraid of the metro. You will have to learn to use it sometime and the sooner that you do the easier and quicker it is to get around. When you travel in other european countries you understand how the system works and it makes it easier.
getting around Buy travel cards from the length of your stay,the Metro is very easy to use.A ticket for the city tour will last you 2 days(consecutive).Your hotel will have maps to help you get to the places you want easily.We found the Parisiennes were only too willing to help if they saw you with a map!
