Negatives: dirty showers, grimy shower curtains and walls, old sheets with burn holes in them, no outlets, toilet rooms didn’t have functional lights, no free breakfast!
Positives: right in the middle of France, great restaurants around here, man who owned the place was polite, lets us pay with credit card, helpful with directions.

The hotel was in an excellent area with loads of cheap bars and restaurants and very easy access to the centre of Paris. The staff were friendly and helpful however the room we stayed in was VERY basic indeed. No plugs in main room so only place to use styling tongues/charge camera was the bathroom!!! Very clean though, especially the bathroom.

The proprieter has a good sense of humor and limited English. He is helpful, though. The neighborhood was easy to get around, but you will have to take the subway to get to the center of the city. The bathtub was very unique, and the price was very good.

The Luna Park is an acquired taste but I've been staying there every time I've been to Paris since 1986. Spartan and relatively cheap, it suffers from proximity to a loud bar. But the neighborhood is otherwise great (Paris 11th, Metro Parmentier) -- bakeries, restaurants, gyro shops, even a McDonald's; photo shops, a laundromat, grocery store... basically it's in the perfect locale to use as your base to explore Paris. The staff (all Algerian!) is very friendly and helpful once you get to know them. Knowledge of French is a plus. The bakery across the street is excellent for breakfast. Try ordering a salad at the nearby pizzeria and they'll just throw a bunch of pizza toppings in the bowl. :-)
