Nice bistro nearby We liked the bistro called Au Trappiste, on the rue St. Denis, just at the end of the street where the hotel is located.
Don't believe what you hear about Parisian waitors! I've been to Paris 4 times, and only once did a waitress behave badly. Every other waitor has been more than friendly, whether buying us a bottle of wine and sharing it with us, or saving our digital camera when we left it, or recommending a jazz club. Just smile and enjoy Paris, and they'll be happy to help you have a good time.
Louvre museum tour We booked a 3hr trip around the Louvre museum,a whistle-stop tour of the 6 top attractions there.which meant avoiding the huge queue at the museum(but still waiting over half hr for our guides at the office-annoying when we had rushed to get there in good time).you need comfortable walking shoes and to be sprightly to keep up with the guide,trying to talk above jostling crowds,but the personal earphones do help. the toilet facilities there are woefully inadequate,especially when closed for cleaning which causes another massive line! take a strog bladder,and dont drink till after!!
