Wonderful hotel

from oopp
I've frequently stayed at the hotel de Latour-Maubourg as I often come to Paris for work. It is different from the other hotels I usually stay for work, because here you can really feel the history of the ancient building and I like the colours and the style of the rooms. Actually, every room is differently decorated and their side is very comfortable. The breakfast is abundant and of great quality.

Cosy rooms in a good hotel

from Roadrunner10

Wonderful Stay _ But Agree About Snobbish Woman

from LindsayMP
ok I read the review about the Latour Maubourg, and how the woman was snobby (I'm sure he simply got the date wrong), and I also read the remark back that management posted. First of all let me say that my overall stay at this hotel was lovely. By this posting, i hope to be of some assistance to prospective tourists, and to the management of the hotel (theres always some room for improvement for everyone!) I was by myself that spring, in a foreign country, only knowing a little french at that time, and I was only 18, so i was pretty scared. I too arrived a little late, and the woman gave me a little sass about she emailed me and I didnt respond to let her know when I was coming. Well, I had been camping in the south of france for two weeks, and the very last thing I had access too was the internet. So madam who owns the hotel, i think something that you need to realize is that as a buisness woman, the last thing you should be doing is expecting convienience out of your clients. You should be worrying about how to make their stay more pleasurable, and waiting on THEIR schedule. not yours. After all, they pay YOU. But other than that one little mishap, that kind of made me a little intimidated by the lady, my stay was delightful. She spoke perfect english, and she was a very cultured lady. She took the time to walk upstairs with me and show me to my room, how to work the key, and was very nice about finding me a cab to CDG. The room was very clean and cute, with a wonderful homey atmosphere. I couldn't have been more thrilled after living on a mountain for two weeks! Her husband was an absolutely wonderful man, and they gave me an english paper in the morning, along with a wonderful breakfast! and there was a cute little dog that ate my yogurt remains out of the pot! haha. So yes, this woman is a little snobbish, but i think shes quite upperclass and thats just how she is. But Parisians can be pretty rude (although I think she may have been brittish), so if you're going to paris you kind of have to get over it! I'm currently in Aix en Provence for the semester, and people are much friendlier here!
I would definitely stay there again, and i actually did recommend it to my mom, but she ended up going with hotel de la bourdonnais.

oh, P.s. its within walking distance to the eiffle tower and on a very cute street!! :-)

Miss,
you wrote a remark about the hôtel de latour-maubourg and would like to thank you for your interest.
On the other hand , I would like to inform you the owners you talked about sold the hotel in 2005. The hotel has been closed for nine months and has been completely renovated.
I am the new owner and hope to have the pleasure to welcome you and your monther in an other occasion.

A terrible Mistake

from fsayed
This place was the only mistake on an otherwise fabulous trip around France and Spain. Not only was the place over priced, the female owner is extremely snobbish. We arrived late because we were on a train from southern France to Paris and were greeted by an angry "where were you" , "why didn't you call". Hmm lets see because my US cell phone does not work in Europe and the Train does have a phone (at least I don't think so). The room was old and tired. The furniture is clean but is very worn. The bed was lumpy. The only nice thing about our stay was the location. Otherwise, STAY CLEAR.
Management Response from lamautour
Madam, sir,
further to your e-mail regarding the terrible mistake , I agree with you this is a terrible mistake because the hôtel were closed on june 2006 for completely renovation. We opened on august ,21, 2006.
We hope to have the pleasure to welcome you and you can see there is no snobbish woman .The atmosphere is friendly.
best regards

Intimate little hotel - great location- loved it!

from A TripAdvisor Member
My daughter and I spent over a week in this charming little hotel. The owners made us feel "at home" and helped us with tour information, dinner reservations, and any other help we requested. From the moment we arrived, we enjoyed their hospitality. The location is ideal: only a few minutes from the Eiffel Tower, and a block away from Des Invalides and the Dome church, which holds the tomb of Napoleon. The Metro station entrance is just across the street from the hotel, in a small park. In this area it is possible to choose from a variety of different dining experiences; whether one chooses a quick lunch at a nearby bistro, or a leisurely fine dining experience at a first rate restaurant. Adding to the convenience is a delicious breakfast served in the hotel, which is included with the room. If I am fortunate enough to visit the "City of Lights" again, there is nowhere else that I would wish to stay.

t stay anywhere else...

from A TripAdvisor Member
This was our first trip to Paris and our stay at Latour Maubourg made it one to remember.

The owners speak perfect english and are most helpful if you need advice on where to eat or how to get somewhere.

Our room was spotless and had beautiful linen. Bathroom was top notch as well.

We loved the location, not too touristy but very close to everything, with some fabulous restaurants, filled with locals just around the corner. Walking distance to the Eiffel tower.

Breakfast was great, including fresh OJ, mmmm.

The next time we're Paris, I wouldn't think about staying anywhere else.

Good, But Over-rated

from A TripAdvisor Member
My observations form three nights in April 2005:
PROs
-- Large room for Paris
-- Good location, near Invalides, with good metro access
-- Good, continental breakfast
-- Nice breakfast room
-- Clean
-- Run professionally, with sweet dog
-- WiFi setup is reliable
Cons
-- Owners are not as helpful as other reviewers represent; they are polite, but don't necessarily extend themselves to help tourists experience the city, make plans, etc. I expected a lot more personal attention, given there are only 7 rooms and the other rave reviews here
-- Not sure about cooling. Was temperate when I was there.

Wonderful experience

from A TripAdvisor Member
If you are looking for a comfortable, charming French style hotel in Paris with owners who speak perfect English, I would highly recommend Hotel Latour-Maubourg. The rooms are cozy and immaculate. The towels even have a wonderful scent, lavender during our visit. If you prefer a more spacious room as a single, consider the superior room. The hotel has a nice living area (with Internet access) where we had a delicious continental breakfast in the morning and were free to relax in during the day or evening. The location is great, with lots of cafes and restaurants near by. The hotel is also within reasonable walking distance to the Eiffel Tower and other sites. We felt very safe walking around at night. The owner, Maria Orsenne, was extremely nice and very organized. She gave us helpful suggestions on what to see in Paris and how to get there using the metro. She also told us about a car rental location nearby and helped us navigate our route out of Paris. The next time I return to Paris, I wouldn't think about staying anywhere else.

Magnifique!!

from Morstan
Having spent the past 12 days at this hotel, we cannot say enough good things about it! The multi-lingual hoteliers, Victor & Maria Orsenne, are gracious, efficient & helpful. The location of the hotel is tremendous, close to Les Invalides, Musee Rodin, Pont Alexandre III, rue Cler ... We look forward to our next visit to The City of Lights & we already know where we will stay, Hotel Latour-Maubourg!

Top Local Tips for Paris

Pay less for eats. Go to Rue Cler. Its just a short walk from the hotel and seems to be a "must see" on many people's to-do list in Paris. Also, for €16 hotel, you really could do worse for breakfast. Fill up on all their goodies and snack the rest of the day until dinner.

Use the Metro and river boat taxis! Walk, use the metro and the river boat taxis - forget driving. Use Yellow bus for return to airport. They place you right where you need to be to check in.

Walk Walk Paris....its the best way to see everything.
