Good location. Attractively presented hotel,although a bit worn in places.Staff were pleasant and courteous. We had no complaints about our room, although it had been upgraded. Everything was well kept and clean. lots of nice additional touches such as a comprehensive collection of bathroom toiletries, flowers on the table , a bowl of fruit and chocolates. However, the drink making facilities were not fully stocked - no coffee.
The most disappointing factor was the food in the restaurant. Despite high prices it was not of the standard one would expect. All the meals arrived at the table luke warm. The portions were small and not very fresh tasting.We did not even bother having a dessert.There was a good selection of food for breakfast, but again the hot food was barely warm and to my surprise they were serving chicken nuggets!

Shabby but not chic

On entering the Hotel Lotti lobby, you might think your room will be posh, but you will be disappointed. We booked a deluxe room, and found stained and peeling wallpaper, recently repaired (and unpainted) ceiling repairs over the bidet and toilet (and therefore under the same plumbing above...yuck!), a dirty hole where one of the bathroom sconces used to be (leaving the space only partially lighted), a sofa that smelled of urine, and an overall odor of mold throughout the room. The wardrobe (old and very cool, in theory) smelled acrid. True, the room was spacious and the hotel well-located (albeit on a very noisy street). The heated towel racks and robes, slippers (you need these for the icky carpet!), and bath salts are a nice touch. But the room felt, frankly, grubby. Not graciously aged, but down-at-the-heels and down-market. As for Giselle's comment about unfriendly staff, everyone I dealt with was very nice. The problems I saw had less to do with daily operation and more to do with the management not keeping the place up. And here is one more major peeve. If you shower in the capacious tub (and, yes, it is set up for a standing shower), water floods the bathroom floor because the glass shower panel is completely inadequate! How hard is it to put up a shower curtain? Even allowing for lax Parisian standards for hotels, I'd give this one a miss.

Location, location, location!!!

In Paris, location is everything. The Jolly Lotti is one of the best located hotels, right next to the famous Ritz. It is near the Louvre, the shopping is great and the restaurants are magnificent. It is just minutes away from the Champs Elysee and the Opera. The hotel is very warm and charming. The rooms are delightful and spacious, something difficult to find in such a large city. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Paris, it will make your stay an unforgettable experience. Minor complaints are the less than friendly staff, some hardly speak English, and the food is a bit overpriced at their restaurant. I highly recommend eating breakfast at one of the spectacular typical French cafes nearby.

Terrible hotel called Hotel Jolly in Paris

The hotel is in Paris city centre so ideal for getting around and seeing all the sights. The hotel was very expensive I think the rooms were around £150 per night.

As you walk in the hotel has a very grand but deceptive entrance. Once we arrived in our room we were met with wall paper peeling off the walls and the room was barely big enough for 1 person let alone 2!

Possibly the more expensive rooms are better!!!, but I think they average at around £300 a night.

My opinion, not worth it don't bother. I would find a nice parisian B&B and save my money!

We couldn't have asked for a better location with walking distance to everything. Our room was very charming with a small balcony. The concierge was a wonderful source of information. Very reasonable. We would definately stay there again.

My new favorite Paris hotel

I was there Nov 2004. This is my new favorite Paris hotel. Lobby and location is superlative. Service was excellent and decent sized double room for Paris. Nice bathroooms plus a nice view of Rue St Honore. Got a good Expedia rate of around $200 a night.

We enjoyed our stay at the Jolly Lotti. The staff were very friendly, professional, and courteous (upon our return, the doorman always gave us a friendly "Bonjour Monsieur, Bonjour Madame!"). The hotel was really nice and was being renovated while we were there. Fortunately, we didn't hear any noise from the renovations. The location was excellent and a close walk to the beautiful nearby park (Jardin Tuilleries) and to the Louvre. The room was very nice - quite luxurious actually, and was a blend of modern functionality and European charm. One negative aspect however, was that the walls were a little too thin..we were awoken by children screaming and playing in the next room at 5 am. But, our room was very large compared to other European hotels and you just get used to the fact that there are often no shower curtains in European bathrooms. :)

We loved the decor of the hotel itself - the entrance, the grand staircase and the parlor. All were lovely and very nice to come back to after a long days' sight seeing. I would recommend staying at the Hotel Jolly Lotti.

In need of renovation!

Great location, impressive lobby, but much of the hotel is in need of a total face lift, including the rooms.

It must have been 5 star ten years ago, now it has slipped to 2/3. The breakfast buffet is OK but very expensive - mind you so is Paris in general!

They tried the old trick of tying to charge me for international calls that I had not made.

Book this Hotel for the location, but only of you get a good deal.

Jolly Nice Stay

I popped over to Paris for a long weekend in October 2004, and the Jolly served as an excellent basecamp.
Personally, I don't spend much time lingering around the hotels I stay at, so all I'm looking for is pleasant staff, a clean room, a good shower, and most important of all, a comfortable bed.
I'm happy to report that The Jolly had all of the above.
We were in room 505, on the fifth floor, which is reached by one of three elevators. Each of these elevators claims to be able to hold five people, but we struggled with three! Claustrophobic people beware.
We were lucky enough to be front facing with full length windows that opened out to the street below - you couldn't call it a balcony, but we were able to stand by the window and enjoy a glass of wine whilst soaking up the views.
The bathroom was perfectly adequate, with all of the usual bits and bobs. Most importantly, the shower was powerful, and the temperature was constant.
All in all, we had a great stay - the location of the Jolly is absolutely ideal for the traveller who's looking for a base from which to explore.
We'd stay there again.

Lovely long August weekend at the Lotti. Superb location, great service, beautiful facilities. Room was OK, but not particularly memorable. Probably not a great value at winter rates -- what in Paris is? On the whole, however, the Lotti will be a favorite in Paris and I will go back.

Our family of five (parents and three teenage daughters) stayed at this property June 24th for five nights while in Paris. The location could not have been more perfect. We were able to walk to many of the sights ( Louvre, Opera, Arc de Truimph, Champ, shopping, even the Effiel Tower). Staff at reception was efficient and there to do a job, not become our best friend. We requested two rooms when booking directly with the hotel. Imagine our pleasure when we were shown two huge rooms(by Paris standards!) 303 and 304 and they were adjoining. Our daughters in their room each had their own bed , 2 singles and a small pull out couch, and my husband and I a king size bed in our room. The bathrooms were large with lots of marble, and there was plenty of closet space. Maid service was efficient, toiletries and towels were restocked daily, bathrooms were cleaned well, beds made promptly, and even turn down service in the evening. This hotel is charming, a 4 star with some wear and tear, but we were willing to overlook this because the accomodations exceeded our expectations. We have been to Paris twice before, and were disappointed with our hotels (tiny rooms, renovations going on and poor quality of staff. Our family travels a lot and this was one of the best choices of hotel we have ever made, based upon location, service, and room size. We would not hesitate to stay there again and would recommend this hotel, especially to those with families of five.

Thought this hotel was terrific for the price and the location couldn't of been more perfect. We had an absoultely lovely room with a huge bathroom and tiny balcony with views of the Place Vendome. It's definitely not Ritz quality but a great value. I would stay again.

I begin by saying that YOU CANNOT BEAT THE LOCATION OF THIS HOTEL FOR THE PRICE and we had a GREAT TRIP! I would probably stay there again if given the right opportunity, but I'll probably try another next time. The lobby is very nice and it has the appearance of a luxury hotel. However, the room needed work cosmetically. The bedspread was worn as was the carpet and the room was small. The bathroom was very nice, but the AC went out several times during our stay. The staff was pretty friendly and attempted to fix it each time, some with more success than others. Fortunately, it wasn't that hot so it wasn't a big deal ? If you're looking for a "LUXURY" hotel, I think you're in the wrong place. Then again, I've never been to Europe prior to this trip and I hear it's common for the rooms to be small and average at best. If you're looking for a clean and affordable room to stage your visit from, this place is ideal. Personally, I don't need 5 star hotels, but I won't stay in garbage either. This one is definitely just above the upper of the pack by American hotel standards. A good deal for the price (I booked through Expedia). If I'd of paid the $300+ they claim it normally books for, I'd of been pretty angry.

Top Local Tips for Paris

Learn to use the Metro Fast and saves your feet. Minimze you transfers to 2 and you can go anywhere you want. Do need to get zone 3 or 4 unless you go to Le Defense or Vesaille. Get a Carte Orange for a Week of Metro unlimited travel and transfers.

Paris Vision and St Chapelle We booked two tours with Paris Vision in Rue de Rivolli. One was with a English speaking guide to Versailles and the other was an open top 4 hour bus tour to see main sites of Paris, not many stops Staff spoke excellent English and were all very helpful. Tours were good although the 4 hour tour could have done with a comfort break. Highly recommended. Also, don't miss the beautiful St Chapelle, a medieval church near Notre Dame on the Il-de-Cite. The lower chapel ceiling is stunning and there is beautiful stained glass upstairs in the upper chapel. Just across the road is an interesting flower market, smells lovely!

Paris Walking Tours We did a couple of walking tourse with 'paris walking tours', on of the Marais and one of Montmartre. They were really interesting, full of anecdotes you wouldn't get in a guidebook, and good value 10E for a 2 hour tour.
