Shubby and dark rooms

I do not recommend this hotel to anybody. It is very basic. I stayed there in July 2007 and paid 55euro for a single room. On my way back I stayed in another hotel for 44 euros and it was much better and even better location. If you find a good deal for this hotel in the range of maximum 40 euros per night - you can stay there. Otherwise do not waste your money. The room was very dark and bathroom was not up to standards. No soap in the room. I had to go to the reception and ask for one! The receptionist was very nice, but I felt too bad for my 55 euros. The location is near Metro line 4 (Chateau D'Eau).

Best value for money in Paris, a real gem

This is a great little hotel close to Gare l'Est. The rooms are clean and comfortable, and, yes small, but this is paris, all we wanted as a family of 4, was a comfortable, clean hotel with an en suite bathroom, which is exaclly what we got. the staff were all very friendly and accomodating, from before we checked in to after we checked out. It is easy to get to from Gare l'Est and Chateu de eau Metro station. With this hotel you get great value for money.

I stayed in a room with a double bed, a sink, and a closet. The place was nice and clean, although the pillow was not very comfortable. The room itself was pretty small, but how much time do you want to spend in your room when there's all of Paris to see? The staff were friendly and the shower, although outside the room (one per two floors) was very nice. It also has a bar and place to eat breakfast downstairs, although this was definitely not a hang out place.

Top Local Tips for Paris

Tubes are easy I would definately only use shuttle services getting to and from hotels and airports. It is no fun battling with the luggage. Once in Paris, the tubes are easy. We really enjoyed the L'opentour bus (the hop on-hop off) in central Paris as it stops at all tourist sights. One gets to see a lot and the on board commentary is interesting. This is a totally stress free way of getting around Paris. Pay for it before you leave home and it does not cut into your spending money. Two days is better value than one. If possible, go to EuroDisney. This is a must for all, even adults without children. It is awesome!!

To heck with Springtime The weather in late Ocotber has been good in each of the 4 times I've been. Not too warm or cold. Leaves are still on the trees but the crowds are gone.

Eiffel Tower - get there early and use the metro/rer i cannot believe how great paris' public transport is!!! use this to get to the eiffel tower for when it opens, you will be one of the first up (the visibility isn't as great as midday but you can still see the main attractions) it is well worth it, i personally couldn't bear the though of spending 2-3 hours queing when i could have been and gone by then and be seeing the rest of paris. oh... and the public transort is cheap too!
