Top Local Tips for Paris
Use Metro, it's great use rer (train) to airport, "paris visite" metro ticket for the number of days of your stay. You may buy all the tickets at the rer entrance at the airport, when you arrive.
Metro safety/Ring Scam/Veggie food A few tips after my first ever bad experience of Paris...I've been many times and it was my favourite city - until now..... At Gare du Nord I stupidly stood in a queue holding my large purse ready to pay for my Metro ticket. I didn't pay attention to the man in the corner of my eye who edged closer - most people in Paris stand way too close in queues anyway. Suddenly, he grabbed my purse and ran off with it - as quick as that. Adrenaline/anger took over and I chased after him and miraculously grabbed it back off him. He ran off - I was relieved to find nothing missing but I could have got hurt if he'd had a knife... so BEWARE! Look out for strangers who 'give' you rings they have 'found' on the street.... and then expect payment from you - this happened to my friend and I've heard it from other tourists. And if you are a veggie, be prepared to find little or no choice in most restaurants - particularly those aimed at tourists in Montmartre.
SAVING EUROS If you are staying in a Hotel and you have children who enjoys juices, snacks and food, If I may suggest, Use a supermarket instead of adding food and drinks to your bill, even if you can afford it. Saving is wonderfull and using a Supermarket is more eventfull.
