Nice, convenient, old style

First, we aren't impressed with super-luxurious hotels. It's just too much. So this little place suited us fine, and we stayed here twice. It's small, of course, but it has all we need: a bed and a bathroom. It's within 3 blocks of about 8 restaurants; across from a little park. One day a week there is a farmers' market in the street outside. It's 1 block from a Metro stop, which is the best way to navigate Paris. 1 block from two internet cafes, if you must stay in contact. Many shops, primarily fabrics to the north. A bit further to the north is Sacre Couer, walking distance, but uphill all the way. It is also on the edge of Montmartre, which features prostitutes and other interesting characters, but no one every bothered us. We plan to stay here again some day.

Top Local Tips for Paris
Going to the Top There are many locations and sights to see in Paris that you can go to the top of: Notre Dame, l'Arch de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, etc. However each of these locations charges you extra to go to the top. If you decide to go to the top of one, I would definately do it at Notre Dame and save yourself some money at all the other places. Notre Dame had the best view of the city and the top of it is absolutely unbelieveable. You MUST pay the extra 8 euro or whatever it is...its totally worth it.

Chartres Cathedral Do take a trip out to Chartres (whether religious or not) and join a tour conducted by Malcolm Miller who has been studying Chartres for decades.
