I have discover The Hotel du Cadran, an elegant place with a perfect location in paris: Just at few walks from the Eiffel Tower, one of the nearest hotel in Paris. It’s really a perfect place to stay in paris. We appreciated the comfort and the modern design of this places. Indeed in our room there was a wonderful decor composed by clock faces. This hotel has a fantastic and unique asset, its amazing Chocolate Bar, where you could savour a delightful cup of chocolate and taste the french macarons with your friends. Moreover the design of this place is so modern and so cool! As the rest of this place!! Really surprising and cool. I really recommend this modern place ! One of the place to be in Paris !

Very nice, comfortable, worth a stay

I had been to Paris twice before, and this time I wanted to stay in the 7th. I was very happy with this hotel. I have stayed in the Hotel du Continent in the 1st for less, and it was nice, too. At first I didn't want to pay so much, but it ended up worth it for me. My room was a very nice double room with a queen size bed and had a view of the street. The windows kept any street noise out. Only every now and then would I hear hotel noise, but nothing out of the ordinary. My bed was comfortable, and i had plenty of space for my luggage. I definately did not feel boxed in like I did in my Italy hotels. The bathroom was clean with good lighting and a shower/ bathtub with a shower curtain and removeable / adjustable showerhead. Nice and roomy. Just beware-- if you turn the water pressure up really high (don't need to), the shower head may be forced off it's holder and may fall on you. The staff was very friendly and helpful to me. The location is great! There is a nice street market right outside, and tons of nice restaurants. There is a little grocery store right across the street and a bigger one down by the metro. Buy your water there cuz you can get a whole 6 pack for a euro!! A laundromat is right down the street as well. and for those of you who use Bank of America, there is a paribus bank nearby (so you won't get fees for using the atm). And of course you are right next to the Eiffel Tower. The metro is just down the street. As a single female traveler, I felt very safe here. The air conditioning worked well which was nice because it was very hot and humid while I was there. I decided to stay one more night in Paris and decided to save a little money by going around the corner to a cheaper hotel. I went to the Hotel del Alma. It was cheaper, but not as nice at all! It was stinky, dingy, dark, trouble with the door lock, no air conditioning... I could go on. better to spend the extra money if you have it for the Hotel du Cadran. In America, we are used to hotels that are roomy even when they are cheap. And big bathrooms and air conditioning is usually a given. That isn't the case in Europe. they are usually pretty small and basic unless you spend a fortune. So I felt like the price was a little high, but for Europe, this was a really good deal.

Hotel Du Cadran is well located near the Champs de Mar market on the left bank. There is a wonderful bistro nearby called Leo the Lion. Very good and they speak english. We have stayed at the Du Cadran twice now since we like it.

The staff were very kind and the location was great. Within walking distance to many nice restaurants in Rue Cler. The rooms were down side... the bed was old and hard and not much room to move around in the room.

Well worth the money

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in June. Its a wonderful place-the staff is most helpful and friendly. The room is average size and very clean and the bathroom was immaculate. We had a large window with flowerboxes overlooking the street. The hotel is not on a main street so our room was very quiet and we slept peacefully. The breakfast was typical of French breakfasts-I would have been happier with a little more selection. I felt very safe at night in the area. Several brasseries within walking distance, post office and bureau de change right around the corner. Metro stop very short walk from hotel. Eiffel Tower 10 minute walk. We highly reccomend this hotel.

Stayed at the Hotel du Cadran from July 1 - 3, 2004 on the recommendation of Trip Advisor reviews. A wonderful three star hotel in a great location. Rooms are small (typical for Paris) but charming and have all the necessary comforts. Lovely big bathtub and bubble bath to go with it.

By far and away, the greatest asset of this hotel is its wonderful smiling staff who are welcoming and accommodating in a city that is not always known for these characteristics. Front desk staff offered maps, gave directions, sent up wine glasses and an iron, arranged taxis, booked reservations, translated words, arranged wake up calls, loaned guidebooks and fulfilled other requests cheerfully and helpfully. It was an unexpected pleasure to be always greeted by name during such a short stay.

By way of example of their hospitality, I left my running shoes in the room after checkout but did not notice until the next day when I was far away in Provence. I called the hotel and found that staff had set them aside. They sent the running shoes to me by express post to the rural address where I was staying - no charge. I received them a few days later and carried on with my holiday.

We would definitely stay here again.

My son and I stayed at the Hotel du Cadran for 5 nights and enjoyed it very much. The room had a full bathroom, with a bathtub and a minifridge. The breakfasts were included in our price, because I had booked before a certain date and consisted of croissants, baguettes, a selection of cereals and fruits. The location was perfect, close to the metro, around the corner from Rue Cler and across the street was a mini grocery store, so we could purchase water etc and store in the fridge. The front desk staff were very helpful. A big plus, was the elevator. It is a tad more expensive, but well worth it!!!

Booked this hotel after reading all of the other glowing testimonials, and to my surprise, it's all true! Yes, the rooms are small, but clean, pleasant and comfortable, the hotel is quiet and beautiful, the hosts are gracious, and it is in one of the nicest Parisian neighbourhoods you could hope for, full of cafes, bars and shops, and relatively few tourists. Transport links are good and it feels safe in the surrounding streets. For the money, though, it is truly spectacular given my experience of other European hotels. Stay in this lovely hotel and spend all the money you save on good food, wine and culture. Paris is a wonderful place and there is no doubt in my mind where I will stay when I return.

With 2 metro stops nearby, Rue Cler around the corner, and both the Eiffel Tower and Champs Elysees in walking distance, this hotel is all about location! Clean rooms, helpful staff and expedia rates make it even better.

Perfect 3 Star

This is a great 3 star property. The room was not that small by Paris standards with a nice bathroom. The staff was great and very helpful. The location of this hotel is very near the Rue Cler street market, many good bistros, and of course the other big left bank attractions. A good breakfast, a hotel filled with artwork and incredibly clean and polished. I would stay here again.

We stayed here for 4 days in May, 2004 for my birthday holiday. The staff were all extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms, while small, are very well maintained and the bathrooms have been updated. We stayed in room 203 which benefited from air conditioning, or an evening breeze if you don't mind the sounds of Paris.

The neighboorhood is very tourist friendly, and the neighboring businesses offer a wide variety of specialties. The Cafe du Marche next door for example is a fine local restaurant with sidewalk seating open late into the night.

Two subway stations and several bus lines make getting around town very easy.
I would return to this hotel in a heartbeat.

First of all, the rooms are EXTREMELY small. I mean, we could barely fit us and our luggage in there! however, that is seriously the only complaint i can think of and i have been to paris several times and this is not unusual to the city. the bathroom is actually quite large and very clean and bright. the furniture and bedding is pretty and cheery and we enjoyed our stay immensely. the staff, emilee especially, was very friendly and helpful and always greeted us with a smile. we arrived early adn teh room was not yet ready; however, they allowed us to store our luggage and we toured the city a bit before returning. we got the breakfast every morning and it was lovely . . . a typical continental breakfast with croissants and cereal and juices and tea. it prepared us well for the day. overall we enjoyed our stay immensely.

We were in Paris for my wife's birthday, and had a great time there. The hotel is on a quiet street, very intimate for the centre of Paris, the staff were excellent. The room was small but very clean. Highly recommended.

Fantastic Birthday Surprise

I took my mother to Paris for the May day bank holiday weekend as a surprise for her 60th birthday. I'm not a frequent traveller and have never done anything like this before, but I was absolutely delighted when, having sailed through Paris with relative ease using French public transport, we arrived at the Hotel Du Cadran early Friday evening. Unfortunately, our travel company had made a mistake in our booking and we ended up in a room with a double bed, however Emilée and Michèle on reception could not have been more helpful. Although the hotel was fully booked and they were unable to move us to a twin room, they actually managed to make us feel good about it! I read the reviews before we travelled and can only reinforce everything that I read. The rooms are a little on the small side, but the decor is very pleasant adequate for the time you'll realistically spend in them! All the reviews mentioned that the Eiffel Tower was only 5 minutes walk away, this did take some believing. We were delighted when we walked for less than this time to find ourselves confronted with the most beautiful view of the tower. A further five minutes walk had us standing underneath! We found some lovely restaurants near the hotel, and the streets around the hotel definitely need further investigation. One street in particular, if you come out of the hotel and turn immediately left, continuing along the Rue de Champs de Mars, at the next set of crossroads, if you look left and right, this street resembles a street market, when in full flow! There were some very intruiging and interesting looking shops, but unfortunately we went on a bank holiday weekend, and yes, this did mean that everything was shut! I think overall, for what we paid, the Hotel Du Cadran was excellent value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again.

Top Local Tips for Paris

Dos and Don't Bothers Do: Saint Chapelle -- just amazing and doesn't take too much time. Do: Catacombs -- less visited and totally creepy. Do: Cafe du Marche. Everything is fantastic. Don't Bother: Top of the Eiffel Tower -- the second level has the best view. Don't Bother: Bon Marche -- unless you are actually shopping, skip it. Nothing special about the building and stuffy clientle.

The RER If you plan to take the RER into town rather than a taxi, don't hesitate. Just know that there are several different lines. I should have taken the "B" line to the "C" (yellow) line for my hotel. I didn't understand that, and wasted some time at the airport and again in town trying to figure it out. Basically, any of the RER trains at the airport will take you into town- just look on the map in the train to see which stop has a corresponding line you can pick up to take you closer to your hotel. I was traveling light, one rolling bag only, and the RER was a perfectly fine way to get into town.

Drinks Be careful around the cafes' on the main streets. Ask for a large beer and you can pay up to 15 euros each.
