The rudest staff ever

This hotel is quite confortable and clean. However, we booked this hotel because we needed the internet connection in order to work by distance. Eventhough the hotel proudly claims than the internet connection is effective throughout the hotel, the wifi is completely unefficient and doesnot work. Moreover, the receptionist is very rude, does not speak any foreign language. The reception opens only from 8 to 12, and the receptionist will never accept to open the gate in order to render any kind of service even 1 minute before the opening time, and even in case of urgency. We almost skipped our flight because the receptionist. But despite this very negative opinion, other hotels in Paris are even worst.Good luck for all tourists...

The rooms are quite small and always extremely warm. Cleaners are very ignorant and enter your room whenever they feel like it. Very uncomfortable sometimes. Male manager is very rude and never treats you nicely.

I've been staying at this hotel for the past 15 years and have never had any concerns for my safety nor has anything ever been stolen. It's far from classy, but I don't travel to spend my time in the hotel. It's a safe place to stay in a neighborhood far more interesting/real than the heart of the tourist area. Also, it's convenient to metro and a charming walk up the back side of Montmartre to Sacre Coeur.

I can't believe anyone would stay here and not recommend it. For the price you pay, you get a very good deal. Our room was lovely, the bed was nice enough, it had a little washroom and a small balcony.
Noise from other rooms was not a problem during our stay(thursday to sunday),although you can sometimes hear the noise from outside.
It's very near Jules Joffrin metro station so travelling around the city is not a problem and also close to the Sacre Coeur if you fancy the walk.
I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone and even better if you're on a budget.

It's no-frills so don't expect any, but we certainly had no complaints - and didn't receive any, despite a very late arrival on our first night. I found all of the positive comments below to be true and none of the negative ones, despite being prepared for the worst. Far out from the centre of Paris? It's only a few minutes on the Metro from Gare du Nord and close to 2 stations! We found the neighbourhood unthreatening even on the night of the England-France rugby game when you'd expect the streets to be a little rowdy! Best things about this hotel? Busy market at the nearby Rue du Poteau (beautiful produce), great grey cat in hotel reception and a Velib stand right outside the door (1 euro-a-day rent-a-bike).

My stay was not very appetising. I really wish I hadn't stayed here...it was so far out from the centre of Paris..Fair enough, it had a metro nearby but honestly, if you're only dropping in for a week or so then it really is a pain in the neck to have to travel in every day.

Cool ethnic food?? COOL ETHNIC FOOD?? I'm sorry I LOVE my curries and stir-fries but 3 days in a row we visited 3 different restaurants and got 3 different bowel problems the following morning. Not pretty.

Yeah, I'd have to agree with the "grade 9 school girls" on this one, whoever you are, you clearly weren't lying. This was pretty ghetto, and I've lived in Detroit for a year. Although some of your claims may have been a bit extravagant...I cannot overlook the fact that you were being honest in many respects. I don't think they were implying that their arses were too great for the toilets; because I think the linen and bluddy disgusting bathrooms were enough to make the most ignorant of stomachs turn.

Stay here if you want, I guess it served it purpose.

Give me a break - for the price, this is a find in Paris. Ghetto? Please. If you are a whitebread group of grade 9 private school girls, you might think the neighborhood is ghetto based on the number of - gasp! - brown people. And yes, drunken guys will leer at you, whether you're dining at Maxime's or the pub down the street.

The downlow is, I stared here for a week. It was clean, convenient and safe. If you need antiseptic rooms and that little piece of paper that goes on the toilet seat so your arse doesn't vicariously touch someone else's, go to the HoJo. Otherwise, you'll be fine here. The management locks the front door after 11pm and are quite conscientious.

It's minutes from downtown via the subway, a short walk to Montmartre, the clientelle is civilized, you get cool ethnic food all around you, the owners are decent people and IT IS CHEAP. You will be hard pressed to find a cheaper, livable room in Paris.

School trips should avoid staying in Montmartre. If you want a good, clean, cheap place to stay and aren't freaked out by minorities or bars, welcome to the Olympiade! I heartily recommend it.

Ok, it's not the Ritz, but... if you are looking for a clean and cheap place just to sleep, it's ok. There's a nice brasserie across the street and a small grocery store round the corner, so you won't starve. The cat's cool!

Nothing was stolen from us, no one broke in...

The nearby metro station is very handy!

Well, apart from the shower curtain sticking to me in the tiny shower, the bed being "freshly made" consisting of the doona being flipped over to reveal the classical leopard print, strange men following friends home, strange men drinking in the surrounding bars leering at the young girls in our group and the elevator scaring the crap out of a couple of my friends, I enjoyed my stay. The staff are protective about young girls talking to the local boys and the cat is adorable AND they have a full length mirror in the hallway. I enjoyed my stay but I think it was mainly due to my company on the trip.
Oh and don't leave your towel because they will use it as one of their own. I'm watching you Quasimodo...

We thought everything was good here. It's cheap and cheerful, but clean and handy to a metro station. It's fairly basic but has everything you need nearby. I would say it's probably used by mostly french people, and i don't even know if the lady at reception spoke english. As far as the reports below go, it's not in the slums, its just not in a touristy area. If you're looking for disneyland and the Eiffel Tower, then stay somewhere else. If you want a taste of the real Paris, its ideal.

batobus a great way to get around the city (as well as the great metro system) is the batobus which is a boat down the Seine with different drop off points at tourist spots such as the Eiffel tower, the Louvre and the Musee D'Orsay! hop on and off all day! great photo opportunities from a different angle!
