This is a "hostel" not a "hotel". The room smells like an old closet and the carpet is dingy. The upside is that the hotel is right around the corner from the (4) simplon train. If you are looking for a cheap place to stay that is close to the train this is it.
AWFUL DISGUSTING HORRID!!!

OK. The best thing about this hotel was the gun they provided you to shoot the sleazes that called you down from your room ALL NIGHT. Just kidding. They didn't even give us one of those. Seriously. This was shocking!!! It seems "Helen" who commented here before me, beat me to saying how the location was ghetto-like and crap-filled. The metro was close; but using it came at a price of $1000 to me; as my card was scanned at this station and THIS WAS THE AMOUNT THAT WAS STOLEN!!!
This is one of those places where the "1 star rating" is, in fact, perfectly true. But if you like the smell of urine - it's your place. Simply open your window in the morning and it'll waft on up.
The whole place needs a safety check. This is one 150 year old building that feels like it's about to FALL APART.
p.s.
"Hotel Des Olympiades" is unnervingly luring. Change the name to "Crap Shack". Thank you.

It was absoutely awful! Our shower curtain was covered in black mould that smelt foul. The lift collapsed and sent me hurling for 4 floors until it stopped half way in between two levels and I was stuck for 15 minutes!
Location was in the ghetto and has 15 bars full of creepy old men that surround it. But hey!!! If you like to be hit on by every single 30-50 year old ethnic sleaze every time you walk out the place; this is for you. A real family atmosphere with the people in the next room that were bonking all night as well....
If you're travelling alone; enjoy the company of quasimodo who comes into your room to "clean" or steal your stuff more like.
Worst place I've ever stayed in.

This hotel is not in a touristy area which is nice. Its close to a metro station so you can get anywhere in the city fairly quickly. I would recommend it.
Good time

Ok this hotel is almost directly accross from the metro and a supermarket... has laundry round the corner too. I headed a school party and all had good rooms with ensuites. The rooms were quirky, but well presented. Lifts, stairs and elevators are not the newest, but in good working order and not shabby. Overall the entire party enjoyed being here as its fairly central, mostly quiet and definately enjoyable!

batobus a great way to get around the city (as well as the great metro system) is the batobus which is a boat down the Seine with different drop off points at tourist spots such as the Eiffel tower, the Louvre and the Musee D'Orsay! hop on and off all day! great photo opportunities from a different angle!
