Charming, good location.from esheng
Service was friendly. We got some good tips on visiting Versailles and got quite a few messages and calls passed through during my stay.

A great romantic hotel in a wonderfull locationfrom A TripAdvisor Member
Do not except anything from the "surrealist" feeling they advertise though: yes, André Breton did write a few important texts in this hotel, but it was way before the decoration was totally remade and the whole place turned 100% Empire, rococo and Napoleon style (yes, a bit "over the top", but quite intriguing!).
It was already mentioned that elevator, corridors, bedrooms are small, even tiny, and this is true but not without charm. I was surprised to have such a big bathroom, with a bath, lovely nice towels etc… considering the fact that we had one of the least expensive bedrooms. And this adds to the positive sides, as does the fact that the staff and the people at the desk in the lobby are friendly, effective and helpful. The cleaning of the rooms, however, was really done at some funny hours (between 4pm and 6pm, when we were planning on relaxing "home"!) and this should be rethought because it does not seem pretty "professional", even if the maids are friendly and do a great job.
Finally, what is wonderful about this quite romantic hotel, is its setting, right in front of the Pantheon, making it easy and fun to spend some nice evening wandering in the Quartier Latin, or some days going from bookshop to bookshop. In a word, this is a charming hotel, and charming does not mean "perfect" but just wonderfully

We found the staff very friendly, they let us into our room at 11am despite check in not being until the afternoon, and they spoke perfect english without the snootyness you get from some parisians if your french is naff. The room was the usual compact, city hotel room but had a nice little balcony. Decoration was new and luxurious, though not everyone has a taste for monkey nest wallpaper, and the room was clean and comfortable.
Very Disappointing Servicefrom A TripAdvisor Member
We booked our room 8 weeks in advance. We booked a second room for my sister two weeks before our stay and received confirmation for both rooms. So, we were quite shocked to arrive at the hotel Friday around 8pm to find out that there was a "computer problem" and no rooms available for us. We were sent to another hotel a few blocks away where the rooms were adequate--but not very nice or well located. We also had an issue when the new hotel tried to charge us a higher rate. We expressed our disappointment and were told that something would be done to compensate us for the inconvenience.
The next morning--we returned to the hotel (where the rest of our family did have rooms...) and were given our rooms. When we asked if we would receive a reduced rate for the inconvenience, we were told that the manager would take care of us later that day. When we returned to the hotel that afternoon after a day of sightseeing..the manager was not there.
We asked again when we checked out if the manager was available and were told no, but we could have a free breakfast. We explained that we already went to breakfast and were offered a credit to our room for the price of the breakfast (10 euro/person). It was suggested that if I was not satisfied with this resolution that I could send an email.
I sent the email...and was told that the best offer was the credit for the breakfast. I was also told that they would offer me a reduced rate for a future hotel stay. I was due back in Paris the first weekend of December and they had rooms available on their web site. When I gave them the dates and asked for the rate for two rooms--I was told that they were fully booked.
Needless to say--I have not pursued further and will never stay at this hotel again. The rooms were nice and the rates are reasonable...however, there are dozens of equally nice hotels in Paris that provide much better service.

One of the best in Parisfrom mullanrail
The rooms are nicely decorated and if you go for the superior rooms (on the Pantheon side) you get a little bit more space (which is rare in Paris). Decor is very French - fabric print wallpaper that everyone found 'charming'. Rooms were clean, quiet, with nice bathrooms and well made up.
The staff at the hotel were very good, from the moment I asked for a pre-booking inspection of various rooms until the moment the guests all checked out. All 14 guests had good comments. They arranged the usual services like taxis, dinner recommendations as well as non-standard wedding things like getting a hairdresser brought in, extra umbrellas (rain on your wedding day....) etc.
Location is excellent if you like the 5th and 6th (my favourite area of Paris - I lived there!). Quiet enough not to be in the tourist-trap St Michel area but close enough to everything (literally right beside the Pantheon).
I still go back to Paris on business and, although the business rates are slightly higher mid-week, it is still worth it.
This is a 3* hotel and so it has 3* prices but it is not a typical Paris 3*. OK it's obviously not 5* standard but certainly better than many 4*. If you want to stay in the 5th or 6th and don't want to end up paying €200+ then this is by far the best hotel I can recommend.

Gorgeous rooms and friendly stafffrom A TripAdvisor Member
If I had to say something negative, I'd comment that the rooms were sometimes made up at odd hours, the maid staff ignored our DND sign several times, the minibar was overpriced, one night clerk was less than consistently gracious, and breakfast buffet items were not always replenished.
With a quiet but central location and offering great comfort for a reasonable price, we would definitely return to this charming hotel.

Metro Buy a "carnet", batch of 10 Tickets(€11.10), as soon as you get to a Metro station. They're invaluable when trekking around, as you won't have to look for change or wait when it's busy.
Cycle Around Paris Use the new public bikes to see Paris! it couldn't be easier to hire them from the self service stands, and the cycle lanes and flat landscape make it really enjoyable, even if you are not a seasoned cyclist. More info available on the website http://www.en.velib.paris.fr/
