Basic but clean and excellent location

Whenever I go to Paris (at least every year for 1 weekend) I book this hotel. It is one of the cheapest I know that are reliable. The rooms are basic (some with sink, others with shower; shower and toilet on every floor), but clean and comfortable enough. It's best point is its location: close to the Rue Mouffetard and the little market around St Eustache church (just like the Paris you know from the movies) and within easy walking distance of the cafe's and restaurants around Montparnasse. I cannot confirm the negative points Marina has experienced. My only negative point: rooms on the streetside can be noisy in the morning, so book 'coté cour' (backside) if you're a late sleeper. If you want nothing else than a good bed and a decent room at an excellent price, this must be one of the best.

Plain but good location

I stayed here for 4 nights. I had booked a few weeks in advance but when I arrived there was no proof of the booking even though I booked over phone and sent a confirmation fax as requested. Luckily there was one room left when I got there but if it had been high season there wouldn't have been. I was in room number 1 which just had a sink. The toilet and shower were in the corridor. I wish I could have had a shower in my room for more comfort, I didn't mind the toilet in the bathroom. My room was on the street side but it was quiet. The people in the room next to mine, where there were 3 beds were noisy one night so it's kinda hit and miss. The room was plain but I guess when you're only 15 minutes walk from the Latin quarter and near rue Mouffetard, you're not gonna stay in your room. I wouldn't go back here if I had a choice but I'd take it if I was stuck.

Hotel is located at very quiet and peaceful place. Station isn’t more than 5 minutes far. No TV in rooms...apart from that very nice place in really good money....

Top Local Tips for Paris

Paris Charles de Gaulle airport to city - transport options Take the RER B - very easy and cheap, unless you have heavy unmanageable baggage, in which case the Blue Shuttle, bookable in advance online, is a great option and will drop you at your door.

Speak French My French is terrible. But the locals HATES it when you speak to them straight in English and ignore their language all together. They love to see you try French. So at least start each sentence with Bonjour.

the Louvre is free on the first Sunday of the month Make sure you go early because you will need allthe time you have just to see a third of this place especially the French and Italian paintings and sculptures. Go see the Mona Lisa - you are there after all but do not be surprised if you are less than underwhelmed. Go see the Vermeer instead or Caravaggio and be blown away by genius.
