| Best deal for centre of Paris |
| I stayed at the Hotel de Rouen in 1993 - perhaps a few years back, but if the hotel hasn't changed then I have nothing but good things to say about the place. I suggest you ask for a room with a private shower/toilet and a window facing the street. My travelling companion and I had booked the room from home before leaving for Paris and when we got there, we had our own bathroom in a tidy room, but the window faced the side of another building and looked out onto a platform of pigeon shit and cigarette butts. When we asked to be moved to a room with a street-facing window the owner was more than happy to oblige. What a difference! The bed in the new room was decent, the bathroom spotless, the wood wardrobe perfect for storing our luggage, and the beautiful big window looked out onto one of the more interesting streets of the city. We were there for almost 2 weeks and although the climb up the stairs of the hotel was a bit tedious after long days of trekking around the city, the room was perfect. The breakfast served in the tiny dining room by check-in was also ideal. Unpretentious, tasty, cheap. Could not more heartily recommend this hotel for travellers looking for an inexpensive, clean, decent place to enjoy the heart of the city of light. Magnifique! |
