Ok, positive thing first: location, 10/10. But that's it. I'm done with the positives. Yes, the hotel is fairly cheap, but not when you consider the service, quality, facilities, cleanliness - it suddenly becomes very over priced.
Arrived to find room not ready, at 2pm in the afternoon. Bedding was dirty, looked like a mucky opened out sleeping bag and old dust sheet that hadn't seen a washer in a very long time. Only one towel in the room, even though we were two people in a double. The sink was blocked, the minute you turned the tap on loas of scum and muck bubbled up from below and left a horrendous tide mark round the basin. The toilet needed flushing 4 times in order to shift everything. No warm water in the shower in the en suite, and to use the public shower you'd have to pay 3 euros! Rooms very cold - radiator only luke warm, despite temperatures of minus 7 outside.
No one came in in the mornings (as is usual in a hotel) to replace the towels, to make the bed, to empty the bin or to clean the bathroom.
There was rarely anyone on reception... if indeed you can call the little private room to the right of the entrance that was permenantly locked a "reception". And they wanted the money up front... no doubt because they knew that if they allowed you to pay at the end, no one would want to hand over their money. Really really awful: do not stay here. A hostel would be better than this.

On arrival the room was not ready at 1pm. Told to pay straight away. charged for breakfast and told to return in 1 hour. returned an hour later to a room with a terrible smell, mould in the bathroom with a toilet that didn't flush. no wardrobe or toilet paper. Asked for another room but told no. After a terrible nights sleep we went for breakfast only to be told we were not on the list! in a darkened room we were given luke warm milk in a dirty jug. meanwhile a fellow couple were trying to reclaim money so they could also leave. they had seen a rat in the apartment. I told the manager in no way acceptable, told to come back later! Packed our bags to head for another hotel, asked for the money back for our further nights stay only to be told no money available! The member of staff simple said 'i don't care' you don't like room, go tim hotel! The manager stayed away not to return! staff became aggressive and demanded the key. even though we had fully paid for further nights! To sum up, the worst budget hotel i've seen in my life coupled with the worst staff i ever came across!

I Loved this Hotel !

I stayed at a studio owned by Hotel de Lille- (rue de Pelican) which was situated right around the corner on rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, from May 16th until June 4th and simply adored every minute of my stay!

Both the hotel and the studio are situated in the first arrondissement, which is only a few minutes walking distance from Le Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, La Seine, Les Halles, Centre Pompidou, etc... You are in the heart of Paris and the hotel rates for the first arrondissement are incredibly affordable !

The manager Monique and assistant manager Khaled of Hotel de Lille- (rue de Pelican) were very kind, helpful, friendly and they made me feel like I was part of their family.

My studio was simply very charming, (queen size bed) with little kitchen (sink and fridge), as well as a small dining table for two. Television was also included.

The bathroom was equiped with very new shower. There was daily room service with daily change of towels and the sheets and bed covers were changed every three days.

Hotel de Lille- (rue de Pelican) offers free internet services as well and a delicious continental breakfast for a very small fee.

The rooms and decor of both the hotel and studio are reminiscent of an era where charm and elegance were still abound.

I was right next to a Bakery, Pizzeria, Chinese, Lebanese, plenty of French restaurants and there was also a laundry mat right next to my studio.

Both Hotel de Lille- (rue de Pelican) and its studio, which is situated on rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau are simply jewels that must not be overlooked !

I would definitely stay there again and am actually looking forward to going back very soon !

I write this letter to give an information about Hotel de Lille Rue du pélican in Paris that you have on your site. Awful welcome and place, dirty, noisy rooms with an atmosphère "à la Zola", with broken beds and doors. Bathroom black and miserable. Terrible! To avoid absolutely.

This hotel is wonderful if you're lookig for a nice, relaxing and quiet holiday away from all the fuss surrounding the high-class hotels. The prices are brilliant, the hotel is in a very central position and the staff are very accomodating.

Top Local Tips for Paris

Try staying in the Latin Quarter On my most recent trip to Paris, I stayed in the Latin Quarter. This was a nice area to stay in. It is located in the 5th Arrondisement in Paris. It is quaint and quiet. It is the student quarter, so you will be near the Sorbonne. There are a lot of book stores and cafes around. It feels like it is away from the "city" even though its not. However, if you want to see views of the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe every morning that you wake up, I wouldn't stay in this part of town.
