The high ceilings,crown mouldings and chandaliers remind me of pasis decades ago. The staff are great as is the location. The beds are good and some rooms have little balconies.There are two metro stations near by and a very good restaurant (goudys). Lastly the price - inexpensive! Many friends have stayed there happily.

I have been staying at this hotel for almost 20 years. The staff are warm, friendly, and helpful. The rooms are comfortable and of ample size. The location near the Opera is also a ten minute walk from the Arc de Triomphe at l'Etoile. The hotel may be old, but that only lends to its charm. And the price - impossible to beat. This may not a five star hotel - but it is a five star bargain!

Top Local Tips for Paris

Pariscope - weekly Paris city guide Very handy guide. Pick it up when you get into the city at any magazine/newstand. I think it was 1-2 EUR. A weekly guide that has nightlife, shopping, movie listings etc. Although I didn't get a chance, I would recommend seeing live music at any number of the main cathedrals in the city. They would be listed in the guide, and is usually classical music, but awesome to hear in a cathedral! Also recommend picking up a museum/gallery pass which is for 7 days, and includes all of the main ones. Much cheaper than individual admissions.

Getting from CDG to the city The buses operated by Air France (Les Autocars d'Air France, Les Car d'Air France - they don't seem to be able to make up their minds about a name) are very convenient and reasonably priced.

Getting around Paris Before you leave home purchase a Paris Visite card that gives unlimited access to the Metro or buses for the time period chosen. The Metro is so easy to use. Just pick your route and note the line number or colour and the destination at the end of that line on your route and off you go.
