Metro tickets Do not put your metro ticket next to mobile phone or coins as it will become void. The best thing to do is to keep it in your pocket away from contact with the above mentioned articles as it is a pain to have to either get a new one or try and jump over the barriers.
Beggars DON'T pay them. They just see you as a fool and an easy touch. You'll never be rid of them. You quickly come to realise that they are mostly drop outs who could quite easily work if they chose. The women beggars are all sporting the same hand-written 'I am from Bosnia and have 3 children...' cards, yet they can afford to smoke king size cigs and sport more jewellery than Tutankhamun.

Skip queues, save money, enjoy extra perks and find out about smaller, less crowded museums. How can you go wrong? You can buy these online (within a reasonable amount of time from your departure) or at a tourist office. (Check the website: http://www.parismuseumpass.com/en/home.php) As well, you can purchase a transit pass called Paris Visite, which is good for all buses, trains and metros in zones 1-3 or 1-6.
