Beautiful hotel in a central location. Lovely room and lobby. Within walking distant to all the sites. Excellent service. Expensive, but then Paris is no bargain.

This must be the best hotel in Paris - everything about it is wonderful: the service (friendly staff and not at all stuck-up), the location (just off the Champs Elysees) and the surroundings (the rooms are beautiful, especially the suites). The food is also excellent, in both Le Cinq and La Galerie. We stayed there on my birthday and arrived back at the hotel after a shopping trip, only to find one of the staff waiting outside our suite with a birthday cake. That's service.

Incredible experience

This hotel surpasses my expectations each time I have the pleasure of staying there. The service is impeccable, the room spotless and every need seems to be effortlessly anticipated and accomodated. The only time that it did not meet these expecations was during breakfast served downstairs in the room adjacent to the lobby; if you want to eat downstairs instead of in your room, try eating breakfast in the bar area since the service is much quicker and less hectic. Also, skip the eggs and stick to the croissants, since the French have yet to figure out how to scramble an egg. I would love to figure out how they keep the hallways smelling so wonderful. The rooms are so clean that they must be inspected by a supervisor weekly; nothing is broken, nicked, chipped or dirty. If you are a clean freak, this is your heaven. Any attempts at speaking French are welcomed by the staff. Location is superb. The doorman gave us directions to the Peripherique and then jotted down his cell phone number to call in case we got lost. You get the picture: flawless. Many have complained that it is not the "true" Paris; if your idea of Paris is a rickety hotel with a rude attendant at the front, lousy water pressure and thin towels (many find this sort of thing "charming"), then the George V is not for you. If you want to feel like royalty in one of the world's great cities, then don't miss staying there.

Not for those seeking the real Paris

I had the pleasure of winning a 2 night stay at the 4 Seasons George V. Never have I stayed in such a beautiful prestigious hotel. I could never afford that kind of hotel, but I got lucky. The room was emaculate, and the staff were very friendly. The problem is that people like myself, with a modest budget, have no place in these hotels. They take advantage of those with money. I didn't dare touch anything from the mini bar where a small bottle of coke cost 9 euro! It's theft! The expensive coke, however, was is not my main complaint.
We asked the concierge to recommend a good restaurant in the area. He directed us to a restaurant not far from the hotel called Chez something or other.. It was aweful! Not only was it super expensive, but the only people speaking french were the staff (the guests were all english or american), and they served me instant mashed potatoes with my microwaved lamb! I could not believe the hotel would actually send their guests there.
I realize that the 4 Seasons is not a place for those that even use the word budget, but George V is not for those that wish to really experience Paris either. You'd be much better off (though maybe not as comfortable) at a small family owned hotel in the latin quarter, or across the Seine near the eiffel tower where perfect little patisseries and wonderful restaurants that serve Moules et frites til late in the night are on every corner.
One other tip.. don't eat at any restaurant with english on the menu. Be adventurous!

I love Paris in the Springtiume and George V all the time!

I stayed here recently and I was honoured and privileged to be cooking in the kitchen with my good friend Executive Chef Philippe Legendre who has.. not one.. not two, but THREE Michelin stars and is also a master craftsman of France. Despite this, he is a very humble gentleman and one of the very nicest people you could ever hope to meet. As for this hotel that just happens to be like an old French palace in the Val de la Loire, what can I say, it is very hard to find fault with anything, even if you are nit picking. The staff are well trained and polished, and the lady staff are invariably extremely good looking too. The food in Le Cinq is out of this world superb! Not sure about the wines, kein Problem, just ask Eric and his able team and whatever your taste in wines, you will be satisfied and probably overjoyed (unless you have bad taste). The rooms are spacious and very well designed and even better equipped. All over you see happy flying angels and sculptures of amused angels and cheeful cherubs which puts you in a very good mood instantly. The Spa is excellent. I love the pool. Step in and the smell of flowers (subtle aromatherapy) and soft soothing music of waterfalls cascading and birds singing take away all your cares and worries. You can even throw away your valium and prozac, just spend an hour here every day of your stay and you may never need to see your shrink in New York again! In the morning after a lovely Petit Dejeneur (I adore the home made pear jam and hot cone shaped croissants made with butter), I love to jog to the La Tour Eiffel and along the banks of the Seine, and then do my ballet exercises. To watch the sun rise over the city of light is something magical...unforgettable and it makes me want to return to this enchanting city. It is also just minutes walk from Geoge V metro station on the Champs Elysee which is real cool for getting anywhere in the city. Believe me, Metro is better than a taxi or car as the subway just cuts through all the jams and traffic snarls. If you need anything, just ask the Concierge team. Try Carlos from Honduras, he is a very smart guy and helpful too. God! I love Paris in the Springtime like that old Cole Porter song and...I LOVE George V all the time. Enjoy! The George V is the most equisite place I have ever been. Anywhere. Any time. Any place. We took my girlfriend to lunch there for her 40th birthday and it was simply, unequivocally magnificent. If you cannot afford to stay at the George V, splurge a little and at least have a drink or afternoon tea. You won't regret spending one dime. Not one. If you've ever wanted to feel like a king or queen, head to the George V.
They'll place the crown right on your head the minute you step through the door.

Simply the best !

The Four Seasons George V is the best hotel I have ever stay. The quality of the rooms, Spa, food and service is simply incredible but you have to pay for We stayed two times in a Deluxe room, which are spacious and well decorated. The marble bathroom is very nice, and furnished with Bulgari bath products. The staff is very pro-active and friendly. A pool and a Jacuzzi is are available at the Spa and guests can use it without additional charge. The only problem is after you have stay at the George V, every other hotels seems to be poor IMHO that kind of hotel to people who already have visited Paris, because the hotel is a travel reason itself, and if you spend nine or ten hours per day for visiting that beautiful city, you should not stay in a so expensive property.

Words can not descibe this hotel.. It was a pure delight to be there for the holiday season. I cried when I had to leave and I still think of this jewel in Paris and it still make me tear up. They knew what we needed before we even asked. It has all other luxury hotels wishing they could be like this. I can hardly wait to return. It was my Christmas present to myself to be there.

Incredible Service!!

from MassTraveler
Having just finished our stay at the George V, I can write without reservation that the service at this property is the most incredible I have ever experienced. The staff works beyond being attentive and focused on your needs and happiness. I travel the world, and have never experienced a level of service like at the George V. And it was not just us, it was everyone we spoke with who was staying here. Every need is looked after. As for the rooms, they are large, clean, and comfortable. In room services like free shoe shines, high speed internet service, choice of paper delivery, etc. I could go on and on.
Stay here and see for yourself. You won't regret it. Thanks George V.

This is the most fabulous hotel I have ever stayed in and I've stayed in just about every luxury hotel in the major cities! The service was impeccable, the flower arrangements unbelievable, the food terrific -- and everyone treated Americans like welcome guests! The rooms? Just fabulous. It is the highest standard and one I'll have a hard time beating! Can't wait to go back -- and just for the hotel!
