Top Local Tips for Paris
Walking Tours There is a company called Paris Walks that does excellent walking tours of Paris in English. We learned about them when we went on some London Walks. They are about 2 hours long and cost 10 euros per person.
Don't Rely On Shuttle-Paris We were arriving late at night at Orly airport on a flight from Rome. I arranged and pre-paid transportation from the airport to our hotel with Shuttle-Paris. Our flight from Rome was delayed and we arrived one hour late (at 11:45 p.m.). Since we were sitting on the tarmac waiting to take off, it was not possible to alert Shuttle-Paris of our late arrival. As instructed, we called them upon arrival at the airport but got an answering machine. Since all of our flight information had been provided when the transportation was booked, we waited outside of the terminal but no one arrived. We ended up taking a taxi at a cost that was less than what we had paid for the shuttle (about 30 Euros). Since returning home, I have attempted to contact Shuttle-Paris to request a refund but have not received any response.
